    With the new emissions "enforced" Jan 1st and after have you seen a difference in freight rates in and out of california ?:biggrin_2554:
    Do you expect this market to change and not out of educated guessing but does any one on the forum really has some facts on this?
    I've read somewhere this is all politic schemes and enforcement is all up to the officer making the routine inspection, however where some see an obstacle others see opportunity so the question that needs to be answered for those of us that jumped on the gun and acquired a new emissions' truck is;
    Will we benefit from california's freight rates favoring the new emissions' trucks since demand on trucks would go up (if in true meaning it does) in the state or is it all just a tale ?

    I've made 3 trips in so far for 2014, and the landscape looks no different than 2013. Same amount of old trucks on the road as before.

    I will run my truck until someone tells me that I cannot, and if it is just a small fine, I will still keep coming in until the fines outweigh my profitability.

    My truck is an '01 with an N-14.

    As long as all these older trucks are still running around LA area, rates will not change. Don't know about N. Cali, I just play in LA.

    The reason your still seeing non compliant trucks running around here,

    A few years back California changed up their registration renewal process. Use to be we all registered every December, now 50% register mid year. I was one that got shifted from December to mid year renewal, On a routine renewal I had to pay for a year and a half. I say around the 6th month you'll see all non compliant trucks operating inside the California parked. We've all been warned here that we face a $1,000 a day fine if we're caught operating a non compliant truck. California didn't build all those emmision testing bays at scale houses for nothing.

    We are seeing a increase in demand that you normally don't see this time of year. No change in freight rates yet though. I give that 6 months.

    The general public here has no clue to whats about to hit them.

    Uh what? WHere the heck are you getting your information? California extended this Program until at least 2015. Second, this program is coordinated by CARB not the CHP which is in charge of the scales. Call any scale house and CHP will tell you that they are NOT enforcing these rules and has nothing to do with them.

    As for building emoission testing bays? Lol what the heck are you talking about what emission testing bay? I live in cali and am in and out twice a week I havent any construction any scales at all in fact they're even shutting some scales down.
    California CARB does not have the funding to enforce this #### which is why its not being enforced and second.. CARB is not a law enforcement agency like CHP so they cannot turn on their lights and sirens and pull you over. Keep trucking and no fear.

    I can't say the rates are much different, BUT, there does seem to be more of my type of freight available, for whatever that is worth.

    California is so corrupt that they will never change.

    Then again, they dont have to. Theyre betting that they will always have an excess of stupid drivers in the area to pull freight for a loss to get out of the west coast. They could require that every driver coming in to California have a CARB certified charcoal filtered buttplug so that their farts dont add to the pollution. You guys will be going into the scale for a random buttplug inspection. You will have guys posting here, asking about whether nor not freight rates will get better now that they require buttplugs.

    Its the 21st century and you still have drivers, owner operators, who think that the only way to make money is by being on a mileage contract and running as many miles as they can. Put them on a sliding pay scale and they will STILL take loads out to the west coast for $.80cpm+fuel.

    I see new construction in Banning behind the big bays, but it looks more like a restaurant than an emission testing facility.
