To make a long story short and not to drag any names in the mud, my plans have changed. I think I may have to cancel going to get my cdl threw a trucking school and plan on another career route. Kind of sucks but hey thats life, and well even though ill never be a actual trucker, I guess the saying aplys here, never plan on anything permanent in trucking. Hopefully ya'll don't mind to stick around here any way ive grown fond of the TTR and like reading a lot of the stuff here. And best of luck to anyone that persues trucking.

P.S Another thing that hindered my decesion, is I just was stressing out over the whole idea of driving a semi and I just don't think its something I can do, a couple of other reasons factored into this decesion like I said but its better left unsaid.

Hey man no worries! That's what this forum is for. Saved you $6000 didn't it? You never know it may work out for you better down the road. Good luck to you!

Thanks Chompi. And yeah that was one of the factors as well. I just the more I thought about it, the more that made me nervous as well. Having to take a loan and then what happens if say I cant pass school and im stuck with the extra part of the loan, or say i get hired with a company and say have a accident or I get canned for another reason then still have that loan floating over my head. Im either going to a.) try to get a job driving a sprinter or b.) my friend travels the country and cuts and cleans floors I might try to get a job with him.

Yeah that "sprinter" driving seems to be a pretty good gig. Only thing is and its probably just me but I have driven cross-country in a big rig and a mini-van (amongst cars as well) and I have to say that it goes by much quicker for some unknown reason in a big rig. You wouldn't think so since you can go faster in a car and not have to stop at weigh stations. It just seems like it drags on forever in a four-wheeler. I have seen some nice set-ups though in those sprinters. We met an older couple out on the road and they were driving a sprinter and it had a whole sleeper set up in it just like a big rig. They even had a fridge and microwave! The really nice thing about those is that you can always find a parking place! Plus it takes two minutes to unload or load. Lately I have seen quite a few ads on Craigslist looking for sprinter drivers so you shouldn't have a problem. Keep us informed.

Don't feel bad about it. I went the same route...went to community college for a couple of weeks, got my permit, drove the truck a little bit out on the range, and decided it wasn't my kind of deal. Got most of my money back from the college, and am working on plan B. Trucking sounded like a good "quick fix", but I realized it required a bigger commitment than I was willing to make.

Better now than when you're down the road and have expended a bunch of time and money.

    Good luck!
