As a trucker, with a local brick company who runs Mid Atlantic regional. I have to haul a steel coil on Tuesday. Any advice would be welcome.

There a bunch of information on coils in the flatbed section. Just do a search.

I was told, when in doubt, look at how the other drivers secure them.

I learned long time ago, use metal corner protectors on the eye and no such thing as to much securement on a coil.
Read up in the green book for latest regulation and also do a search here.

Remember the old saying, if in doubt, add a chain, that chain and binder will do no good in the headache rack.
Put all you can, 6-7 and still drive like you got a load of eggs and someone is trying to make you break one.

I recommend 5 or 6. And, don’t forget the protectors.

I would think the company would train you to make sure you know how to secure your load. There is plenty of information to show you how to secure the coils. I have seen too many drivers come in when I use to haul coils & have no idea where to begin. I always helped out. I was concerned about them & others on the roads with a coil going down the road properly secured.
I hope all goes well for you but if you haven't hauled coils before take your time I would recheck your chains and binders very often along your drive to make sure nothing has loosen up. Safe travels

Hard to believe you cant drive a fork lift these days without a license but you haul a coil that can do some fatal damage to people.
