I have no problem with drivers working harder. That's not what I'm fussing about. I have a problem when drivers break HOS regulations and boast about it on the internet. I have to share the roads with these idiots.

No I get that...totally.i don't even engage in that conversation,I think it's just immature and pointless. We have to be legal, that's a given. What I'm saying is if you think about it,some want, need to drive longer hours,or cut the 10 hr rule short, but I think the rates should be raised bc the rules are changing.

Drivers work hard? That's funny. The majority of our job is sitting on our #####. People who work manual labor work hard! Driving may be mentally exhausting but I can't recall one time in all my years that I worked "hard"

    Ghost Ryder Thanks this.

I don't. Raising rates will accelerate inflation. Hence why minimum wage has remained stagnant for so long.

In my opinion, there should be some kind of test for drivers, to see what kind of sleep pattern works best for that person. As everyone (except the lawmakers, apparently) knows, no two people are the same. Trying to tell a person when they should sleep and when they should drive is about as unsafe as anything I've ever heard of.

Now I know there has to be some kind of rules for drivers to follow. Im not suggesting that HOS be unregulated. I just think there has to be a better way, because when it comes to sleep, one size does not fit all.

You can work any shift you want in this industry. Nothing says that you have to work days, or nights. If you honestly cannot drive 11 hours, then you don't need to be driving. In my opinion, HOS regulations don't need a reform. Medical disqualifications do.

When I was at TWA working in Flight Crew Schedule, we worked rotating shifts, days week one, then evenings one week, and then midnights one week. I did not know how screwed up I was till I got another job that was straight days.
Now it's all days for me, we may have a 3 or 4 am departure, but not very often.
