Affiliated Foods in KC did this to us once, I had a 6am appt. showed up at 4am (drove all night from Denver). The put me in a door right away (hot loadof adult diapers that was two days late), lumpers got on it right away. I crawled in the sleeper and zonked out. At 7am I called the company to let them know I was on detention (we give two hours free) then went back to sleep to wait for them to finish. At Noon, I went to check on the load. The trailer was empty, the load was broken down, but the stickers weren't on the boxes and the checker couldn't check the load in. I helped the receiver sticker the boxes then they cut me loose. We billed the broker for 6hrs det.. They refused it, citing that I was there 9 hrs (this was under the old HOS rules) so I should have been resting while I was being unloaded (since we charged them lumper fees instead of driver unload) hence I was now legal to drive and could get reloaded to head back to Denver.
So long of a wait
