Question 1:
What will you do when someone forces you off the road, totals your truck and the $250,000 worth of cargo that you are responsible for and paralizes you in the process?
Question 2:
What will you when you get sued by both shipper and consignee for damage to the $250,000 worth of cargo on your truck?
Question 3:
What will you do when the court awards the plaintiff 2,000,000 judgement against you because you killed a family?
SO riddle me this Mr insurance man.

same thing i will do when a meteor lands on my head, or lightning strikes me, or the elevator cable snaps and i plummet to my death
why live in such fear? things to happen, and sometimes good people get screwed
but insurance companies and casinos capitalize on your hopes and fears, but the house never loses
there was a good video explaining how insurance keeps car costs high, college high (that was guaranteed govt loans), etc because everyone has insurance the receiver can charge whatever they want because no one is paying out-of-pocket
and then that gives the insurance company reason to keep raising rates
so the hospital costs increase because of insurance and insurance increases because of hospital costs, and we get to pay the bill
its a scam of the highest degree, but we have been taught this is the way of the world since we were born
but its notcableclown Thanks this. -
easy money hurts everyone but the banks
because we can get an easy loan, we will be indebted for life
we can get guaranteed school loans, we are indebted for life
we all have cars and trucks and businesses and we think we NEED the insurance or if that doesnt work, the government mandates us to get insurance
this does nothing but raise rates
think of all the money you have paid in insurance in your life, and calculate how much you have gotten back
odds are that you paid much much more than you collected..............insurance companies survive and profit on those oddscableclown Thanks this. -
Hence they are grouped into the "necessary evil file " to reside with the IRS, truck management, truck stops, parts vendors, women .......and the list goes on.......

I asked what you would do in 3 specific scenarios and you avoided all of the questions by saying, in effect, that you would die....presumably by suicide since a meteor won't likely fall on your head. If you were to commit suicide then we the taxpayers would be responsible for supporting your family since their bread winner shirked his responsibilities. The proper thing for you to do would be to buy some disability insurance for your family in the event that you are unable to provide for them.
And what about the scenario where the courts award a judgement against you due to your negligence? Can't afford to pay because you have no insurance and then we will again have to pay for your family's social assistance after the courts take everything you have and put you in jail. And to add insult to out injury, we will have to pay to keep your irresponsible arse in jail.
And for what? Because you didn't want to pay a $7,000 annual insurance premium which is a tax deduction anyway?
If you really, really want to assign blame, do like I said a few posts back and assign it to the courts that award giant judgements. Better yet, assign the blame to yourself because in all likelihood you have only YOURSELF to blame for your high rates.
I could go on and on, but clearly you are unable or unwilling to think logically.
I certainly hope that this reply doesn't get deleted for "inciting a riot" or "adding nothing to the discussion" or hurting anyone's feelings. I admit I seem to be a little confused on what constitutes a meaningful, thoughtful reply.
On the positive side, should you decide to insure yourself against accidental meteor death, you should be able to get a good rate.Last edited: Apr 15, 2013

I'm a little confused by the way...why do you mention the part about a "driver that can't get a job driving a truck?" I can't understand why you can't get a job.....newbie's get them every day. As I understand it, you drove for a little while back in the 90's and again this past spring so you seem to be able to get a job. Are you sure you aren't making this into something it's not?
But now you want to buy a buddy's truck and become an o/o and you expect the insurance companies to give you a good rate after you've been out of trucking is that right? Are you sure your record isn't a little blemished? Why not stay a company driver or two years?
If anyone is guilty of hijacking your post, it's EX with all the whining about his high rates and saying that there shouldn't be any insurance at all. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
And finally, you said yourself, that $7,000 didn't seem too bad but $15,000 was way out of line. OK, that's a difference of $8,000 divided by 100,000 miles a year = $.08/mile. If $.08/mile is going to send your new trucking enterprise into chapter 11 then Progressive just did you a big favor.....boss.Last edited: Apr 15, 2013
BigBadBill and Container Hauler Thank this. -
hard to believe no one has mentioned this yet. the reason insurance is mandated by law is because of all the ####### that caused an accident and didn't have the money to pay for property damages and medical expenses. I for one am very glad it's mandated by law. lowers the chance of some guy broadsiding me and stiffing me with the bill to fix my car/truck, and good forbid I or a member of my family requires medical treatment. real easy to rack up a hundred thou in medical bills
edit to add: you want your premiums to go down? most direct way to get that to happen is to send guys to Washington that will bring about tort reform. insurance is high because of all the ambulance chasing lawyers out there and business hating juries that think giving someone 2 million dollars for spilling coffee on themselves is the "right thing". I had a guy pull out from the dock beside me a lil too tight and clipped my hood. I wasnt even in the truck at the time, filed the police report and got in contact with his safety department, was real simple, basically go get an estimate and we will mail you a check type thing. starting the next morning I had a total of 18 different lawers call me(guessing they got my # of the police report) after stating I did not need an attorney, there was no injuries and was a very minor accident, each and every one of them tried to pressure me into getting my neck and back checked out at their"specialized chiropractor". I wasnt even in the vehicle!! the only thing those so called specialist, specialized in, is fraud. bs lawsuits like this are a very big reason our premiums are so high.Last edited: Apr 15, 2013

Well after 10 or so claim free years with the same ins carrier. They tell me at the last minute( after they already had the check for renewal) that no rider waiver would be written at any price.
Every now and then my nephew comes with me......... So I Cancelled the policy and got a new ins co and agent . And got my money back. I don't know who's worse the agents or the mega ins companies .
I've heard all their excuses . You haul hazmat , you go to NYC , bla bla ...... Just raise your rates and stop wasting my time ! -
