Right now I make $10/hr. In two months when I move up into management I'll make $11/hr. I don't know of anywhere in which that is a living wage.
So sick of not making a living wage!

I came here to ask stupid questions and get good answers.LtlAnonymous and kemosabi49 Thank this. -
1) You may also want to try & get a civil service job with either the federal government, the state, the county, or the city / town.
2) Upon retirement, you would probably get a civil service retirement pension, in addition to your Social Security. It's worth a try.
Good luck to you and your entire family.

As for the company I did go with, I'm pulling down average $938 per week gross, with bonuses. I'm not getting rich, but I'm happy. You should be able to get your 3K per month without issue, if you go OTR. But there are many options out there. Do lots of research. The job you pick, you should stay at for at least a year. Someone I trust suggested 2 years, before being able to open up the good jobs.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -

Another suggestion is Tyson Foods out of Springdale Arkansas. Texas is in their hiring area. The company is known for paying their drivers well, with excellent benefits, and DECENT respect for their truck drivers. The job is worth looking into.
Their email address is HRISSupport@tyson.com.
If I was able to pass a DOT physical, I would have gone to a truck driving school to learn how to drive a truck. I would have also liked to have worked for an OTR company driving all 48 states and Canada. Tyson Foods would have been one of my top choices.

Do a year with a training company that helps you get a cdl.
After a year, look at Great Plains Transport which pays salary of $1200.00 weekly.
Great Plains Transport Is Looking for a Few Good Guys and Gals…
At Great Plains Transport, we look at our over the road (OTR) truck drivers differently than most transportation companies. We see you as people first and drivers second. Our President makes a point of getting to know every single person by name. This drive comes from our origins as a family run business, and because he knows his drivers are his biggest asset. It’s also because we believe it’s not hard to be a good person.
Just a few of our benefits include:
- Base Salary Starting at $65,000! ($1250 weekly plus bonus) No gimmicks no more small checks!
- Bonuses – Up to $1,000 Per Month

Great Plains Transport is a North Dakota trucking company featuring refrigerated freight, cargo, and dedicated transportation services while offering long haul OTR truck driving jobs in 48 states.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -
