In TN, the state has no HOS regulations, they only enforce the federal HOS rules. That being said, I think the federal rule applies on intrastate commerce beyond the 100 mile local exemption anyway.

The way the article reads, TX will hit everybody with ELDs, even local haulers. Looks like they don't have all the info on the proposed regulation though.

Until recently I ran intrastate Texas and was on Texas 12 hours of service.. could drive 12 and only had to take 8 hour break and didn't have to take the 30 minute break bs either.. Texas hos seems to get it.. I miss it

Eventually all states will go to electronic logging devices for hours of service compliance. As said above, many states automatically, or by reference adopt Federal regulations for intrastate so those will definitly go to eld. Texas is just the first state to announce their plans to do so.

@m16ty No, even beyond the 100 air-miles if you are engaged in intrastate commerce you only have to abide by whatever hours of service are state law. That said, most states mirror Federal regs anyhow, although states like California and Texas have different intrastate rules. MT and WA have different intrastate only rules only with regards to the class of truck that is subject to hos. Most states regulate anything over 10,000 pounds gvwr as a commercial vehicle, while MT and WA exempt anything under 26,000 pounds, unless hauling haz-mat, from hos compliance. Also, it is hard to really engage in only intrastate commerce with the international mix of product sources we work with today, so it is usually easier to just comply with the Federal interstate rule set, unless your operation really needs the looser intrastate rules.
