Just stopped by the CB shop in Richmond Hill GA and he pointed that out to me.

I bought this new from Werner terminal. Wondering if this is why some of us have issues if refurbished units are sold as new.

Curious how much does Werner charge you for the radio?

What kind of issues are you and other Werner drivers having ? Could be antenna, coax or a number of things. Did the cb shop check the radio out on a meter or scope to see if it is working properly? Is that why you took it to cb shop because of issues with the radio or to get a peak and tune and was he able to get it working right if it needed repair? Sorry for so many questions but your post was kind if vague. Personally I would take it back and ask for full refund and go to truck stop and buy new one or purchase a new one online on one of the many websites.

That's at least the 4th cobra 29 I've heard of now with that same issue...

The radio was the same as truck stops. 129 with mail in rebate coming to 79 I believe?

I went to the shop just to check it out. I go into new ones when ever I get a chance. Asked him some questions. Wanted to know if I would benefit from a better antenna than my Wilson 2k setup and he told me to save my money it won't get much better. Spoke about amps for a bit and showed me what my radio was putting out on the big 3 dial meter. Don't know how accurate it is but he says mine is doing 20watts. The amp he hooked up had some major cajones tho.

At this point im willing to scrap thing thing and move away from the brand. Not right to sell something full priced and not let someone know. Don't Care how much their techs may vouch for it but water and circuit boards don't mix well.

As far as issues it was a blanket statement. I still don't believe im getting out as far as I should.

A single final radio like the 29,uniden 980 and others with a carrier of 4 watts and peak power output to 16 watts with a good antenna ( that includes coax as well) should have the ability to transmit and receive 10+ miles, of course depending on several variables like terrain, weather, receive sensitivity of both transmitting and receiving station. It takes 4 times the power to increase your signal by 1 S unit on the receiving station so you would have to upgrade to a radio that has 16 watts carrier and 65 watts pep like a Stryker 655 or 955 or start adding amps to increase your transmit range.

Water damage usually fries the electronics.

Water is used in the manufacturing process on circuit boards to clean off flux, hell I've seen dishwashers used at prototyping companies for this.

The only thing to be concerned about is salt water and the controls/meter.

    bored silly Thanks this.
