I did factory work for many years. Getting close to retiring!

Glad to hear I am not the only one that was in business and decided to get into something else.

I am just getting into the trucking industry but I come from a background of management and education. I have been a Director for years as well as dean of a small business college. My friends think I am crazy for getting into the Trucking industry as I have a MBA and all this management experience.
Trucking is in my blood. My dad was a heavy hauler and I always wanted to and never did when I was younger because I was told I never be home. Come to find out I was never home working in upper management and the stress and office environment pretty much killed me. Finishing up a part time teaching contract in June and attending CDL School on the weekends. I push my way the the weeks and am excited as can be to climb into the cab on weekends.
I feel I am making the right decision even though I am catching a lot of hell from my so called friends and family.
I find it refreshing to hear a lot of stories like mine.Chinatown Thanks this. -
I was in hotel management for several years before I quit my job to go to truck driving school. I would talk to the drivers and ask a ton of questions when a regular guest suggested I should go to school. I have always been one who likes a challenge and I was looking for a change in my life. I am grateful to have a career I love where I am getting paid to see the country.

I agree. Everyone should have to work with the general public. I was making crap as an educator. Still in driving school. Looking forward to going solo for the first time.
