I was just wondering if those 34 hours drag on forever or does it fly by? Especially if you are just parked in the same spot. I would imagine it would go fast, especially if you have TV, internet, people to call, and videogames. Do you sometimes sleep most of it away?
So what do you do on your 34 when you are away from home?

I usually spend the time cleaning up the inside of the truck in detail, and also got some extra exercise with Cookie. My favorite was a 34 in Kingman, AZ. I love being out in the desert with trails I can hit.

Paperback novels, cleaning, calling home, and the odd walkabout.

So it goes by fast, or does it vary like most days?

Post here, read, clean truck and try to sleep...Taking 34s are the only part of trucking I truly hate...

I rarely have to take a 34 because of the way I manage my time. A good dispatcher will help to manage your time as well to make sure you don't have to do a 34. However on the rare occasion that I do have a 34, I read, clean, watch tv, exercise. I love a nice long walk. Had to a 34 in upstate NY a couple of weeks ago and all it did was rain the whole time. That was a very boring time!

On the rare times I do a reset away from home, I get a motel room for at least one night and relax. I love trucking but sometimes its nice to get out of the truck, you know?

Yeah, plan ahead. If you know you're going to be taking a 34, which can be taken anytime, be in a decent size city, not Possum Breath, Ar. at Tilly's truck-em-up, with 1 bathroom and a diner that closes at 9pm. Can you say "boring" ?
walstib Thanks this.
