Not a dumb question. The hourly is for calculating pay for drop/hooks/fuel/tasks/delay and also if you hit the dock or hostle etc.

FXF does half hour for each drop each hook, 1/4 hour for each fuel, tractor swap or single trailer.

Some carriers don’t pay fuel, some pay a reduced rate for dockwork so there is more minutia depending on carrier.

Okay, I'll bite. I can only speak for two guys that went from the warehouse and got their cdl here but they started them at $20/hr with free CDL training. I guess that isn't really"free" because they had to run the dock for a year but they don't owe anyone any money and they have a CDL a now. It's easy to run your clock out here so you can do the math on $20 pretty easy. Coca cola by the way.

Thanks MCUzi and Swamp Rat for clearing that up!

Man, the numbers on here are just incredible. Especially these linehaul guys. No waiting for hours at warehouses, getting paid for your on duty tasks, $0.60 CPM and higher for pay.......Just wow.

I will be following this thread.

Another question for you guys - How common are internal transfers in some of these LTL companies? Like maybe work a year in one location to get started with the company, then transfer to another terminal after a year or so so you can be where you desire to be geographically?

There will be no posting of checks, but my last four checks averaged out to $1835 working for UPS parcel at an undisclosed location. Lol

I’ve only been with FxF for a few months and already seen 3 guys transfer. They make it really easy to do here and encourage it by posting internal opportunities daily.

It’s certainly possible, but in a company with several thousand drivers I find that highly improbable.

Ironically, i can't find my latest stub. If i can find it, i will, of course, post it.

It was not a good week, only grossing i think $976? i got paid for labor day, but only $232, then only worked two more days. i have sat quite a bit lately and am sitting tonight (so far). This is unusual. But at least i'm getting dam good rest. i have actually, apparently forgotten what normal sleep is---it was actually a little uncomfortable sleeping that long (8 hours at a time) and i actually ached a little.

    1) Posting Check = Solid proof; Anyone can (and many do) say they make so and so, but a lot of times it's BS.

    2) We need actual numbers for the many reasons i've discussed. Just listing payrates is cloud talk.

$1000 average gross is my minimum weekly goal. For 7 days work. For 70-80 hour work week (depending on how you define work). No days off. Running recap.

Not for lack of trying. I can run. But, when I get 250 mile loads or even less than that for one day.......Yeah, I'm doing local work on those runs for a bad hourly wage.

    But I'm noobie OTR.

Russian Rabit, how many hours of sleep do you normally get each night and do you feel rested getting less than 8?

I know I need 8 each night. Everyone's different though.

i normally don't sleep at night, but i get what you are saying. Usually 5.5 to 8 a lot of times using various pills AND on top of that i don't think sleep during the daytime even if you get 8 is still not good quality sleep anyways. If i sleep at night, then i can actually feel rested after 6.5 for a while. Although i feel 8 is ideal.

i think i want to start a separate thread on this very subject.
