This is my experience also. Work 12 to 14 a day not counting the cummute. It was a huge letdown for me. I will stick with being out 2 to 4 nights at a time. The $400+ you lose is not worth the 8 to 10 hours you get home(with you sleeping 85% of those 8 to 10 hours)
So what to do

Trying to also find regional work. Are there any decent companies with a decent northeast regional program?

And it is my business to let drivers like the op who never worked anyplace besides a mega, garbage,no miles, slave wages, dictatorship, know that there are good paying otr jobs still out there. He's done his year at Werner, clean out the truck, turn in the keys and give them the middle finger on your way out the door.
Then go to real company that will pay you a living wage
And have the miles to back it up.
We're all hired guns, nothing more. Just a matter of who's
Gonna pay us the most to pull the trigger.
18 bucks an hour at 40 hours a week is 720.00 gross.
thats before any deductions.
There ain't no way that any OTR driver out here with half brain who used up his 70 hours in a week should be anywhere close to 720 gross in a week. They should be at least
3 to 5 hundred above that. If there not then they deserve every crappy load they get from thier company. I have no remorse for them.
The crazy thing about this whole thread is the op is torn betwween taking a 600 dollar a week job in Boston,Massachusetts. Which is just enough to keep him
From getting food stamps.
Or staying at Werner for the same money for another whole year.
There's 200 more options better than both of these.BostonTanker Thanks this. -
True. My resume is out there. Waiting for bites.
