Just recently had scheduled a phone interview with Schneider and I accidentally missed it :biggrin_25512: But I was able to reschedule it. I was just wondering what the phone interview is all about if anyone knows. Do all companies have phone interviews first? Or is it just something to determine if they should invite you to orientation? Just curious..

I can't speak to the large companies but from my experience the phone interview is used to weed out some applicants without taking up as much of your time or the hiring managers time. It can also demonstrate your skills of how you conduct yourself over the phone as it is an important part of trucking. Just like how some companies will require you to hand fill out an application to see if your writing is legible.

I worked dedicated for them from 09 till April this year. If I remember correctly, the phone interview was more of a rundown of the position. That being the pay, hometime, etc. The orientation is the kicker. The first day, they have you do some walking in place and stair steps among a couple other things. After these excersises, they check your heart-rate. If your heart-rate is above their criteria then you're sent home, no job. We started with 10 guys in orientation. By the end of the week, there was 7 that started work. One didn't pass the excersise test. One didn't pass the driving test, and the other could hardly read or write in english.

    R00kie Trucker Thanks this.

Well, my first post. They must need truckers bad....got a conditional job offer over the phone. They have me scheduled for a Dec 4th orientation start time in Fontana. (Sorry just saw this thread is a few months old). Anyway, got my cdl last week, talked to me for about 30 minutes, basically went over the answers that I submitted on-line. Talked to someone else for about 10 minutes answering some med questions, that was it. They e-mailed me the particulars. We'll see what happens.

Oh ya, the phone call is just to make sure you are breathing! That's their only requirement! :biggrin_2559:

I didn't have my interview with Kim but I've met her. She's a nice woman. My phone interview was with Carrie. She just basically ran through what to expect in the 3 week orientation. She also asked why I wanted to drive a truck and then asked me if I had any questions. Oh, she also confirmed, with me, some of the things I listed on my app. I think they just want to see how you conduct yourself, like a previous poster stated. Don't sweat it and be honest.
