Dude, calm down and take the time to read dfo's company thread if you haven't already. Alot of us have been where you are now. if it is something you really want what's a year. Don't jump ship yet. I know exactly what you are going through and spent all of my available time researching different companies. Find a way to suck it up. I did. I have been on choice for over three years and could not be happier. Things are just a little slow across the whole industry right now. If it's really what you want hang in there man. Or you could be like most and search for the green grass only to find out it's for the most part all the same color. Good luck in what ever you decide.
Hm. Interesting question. I suppose freedom from those two choices. Really, I looked at majority of carriers well before I got my license. Looked at ways to get the license for free without a contract as well btw ;] totally worked. From what I've seen, choice is the best l/p program out there. By a long shot. For some people. Certainly for me. Out of the threads, dfo's definitely got me thinking but it's actually fw's that really solidified it. His position going in was quite similar. I don't much care for the money. I mean, it's a nice by product of working but it's more about doing something I enjoy the way I'd enjoy it the most. Self dispatch in a good piece of equipment with a stinky dog beside me sounds brilliant.
And I've met way too many people around the OC's that are so excited because now they can Choose(tm) to go to Miami to see the beach and then they'll Choose(tm) to go to Las Vegas with their family and then they can take the weekends off and then they can go to LA and see Hollywood and then they'll take the weekend off and then they will be rolling in money and their five kids will have money for college and they'll be wearing all these Gucci clothes.. Nothing against them. Good for them to dream. But from talking to a whole lot of people that are succeeding and reading pretty much this entire forum over the last six months... There are ways to make that program awesome. And ways to fail. P.s. That guy was in Charlotte. The one that told me of his plans for his brand new Cascadia! Btw, he showed me his truck. He said he got it new. It had 50k miles on it. He said that's just how many miles are on it from being driven to the lot. Still scratching my head on that one.
You have to out down a hefty deposit for their pet policy. I think it's somewhere around 500. And there's a weight limit.
I wanna go to Miami and Vegas too but I dont want to go broke so here I am doing the same ol shorties in the midwest. Just finished a 70 mile load, picking up a 110 mile load followed by a 50 mile load tomorrow. Having a blast!
And that's the thing. Me as a brand new driver who knows really not much except a whole lot of reading could tell that guy was about to drive his bank account into the ground. But I'd bet the choice recruiters didn't mind that at all. I suppose this was to say that 6 month drivers may have failed too many times. But.. Is it really on them when they openly tell everyone about these plans that will drive them bankrupt but they are still welcomed into the program with open arms?
