That ain’t going to cut it

 

Not at all my intentions of lecturing on anyone how to spend their money. My point was for people who are going under yet their expenses aren’t rained in.


Trust me if I was going under the first thing to be cut is the cigarettes.

Moral of the story is knowing your finances and cutting down on unnecessary things to float until rates go back up.

I’m not going under therefore with your logic I can comment on expenditures. I only used the lunch part as an example.

 

BS, if you were going under you would double up on cigarettes.

Say what you will about new trucks, but the separate battery pack in my new T680 for running the in-cab climate control system keeps me from idling and it saves a lot of money. I've used the AC in heat 110F and the heat in below zero, and haven't had to idle yet. It also helps in summer to park your truck so the sun won't be bearing down on the front of the truck and heating up the windshield area which makes it much hotter inside the cab. If I'm parking during the day to take my 10, the sun is always at my back.

 

I have a new 680 as well but only with the bunk heater. What system do you have that your so happy with? Thanks.

 

Think about it drivers why are we having the same conversation over and over about money. This has to change and the only way for it to change is action. Sure some say letting loads sit won't work. I tell you this a cheap load seem to always most of the time became a good load at a certain point of a day. The brokers for some reason like to hold back money. Let me say if you will these brokers know the cost of running a truck dont kid yourself. Asking for more money should be default for a owner op you cant have enough earnings. Simply pop them brakes while booking loads simply ask for more money. Get your finances in order and ride this out like a champ. Ask for more stay in local/regional area I made 500-600 pulling 25 miles locally had to get up early. On really hot days with no apu you probably do better getting a hotel room. I made money without the apu I take my time and I dont get committed to any broker. Pretty soon the standard owner op diet will be simply bread and water. Stop it stand up for yourself trucking is what you make it. Truckers need to flip it if volume of loads are down ask for more money.

 

How can everyone say cut cost when your a single truck operation. I got a solution turn the truck off and leave it off. It pisses me off for people to preach cut cost while they are sitting in their company truck. You can cut cost but should you take a hit like that while everyone else maintains their lifestyle. Record earnings are being posted during these supposedly recession times. I call bs

 

Some of these guys may have contracts with shippers.

 

But the majority dont.. I'm talking strictly spot market.
