Fuel is the biggest cost so, I know idling will burn a hole in the wallet. Figure you burn 1 gallon per hour @ $3.40 a gallon X 10 hours = $34.00 a night. X 30 nights a month = $1020 a month in wasted fuel. I know driving slower helps with mpg. I think the goal is to either break even or if possible make a profit on the fuel surcharge.
SO .. Where is the money - most OO going UNDER

I never had an apu, and almost never idled 10 hours at any time the temp was at least 0. Even at 0 my I could warm my truck up and shut it down to sleep. It would be 4 hours or more before I needed to crank it up for an hour or so. I would do the same thing in the summer, unless it was ungodly hot, then I would let it run while I was in it. But I never just stayed in the truck 10 hours at a time either.

Maybe most of the time, but if they did all the time they would know I am pulling a flat or step, and there have been times they didn't know until they looked at it.

Beneke toilet seats. That was our standard reply when someone asked. Especially if you had seen them glance up at the six foot square pic of one, (lid up) on the top front corner of the trailer.rahtek Thanks this. -
On those tolls... dont do 80 out of Chicago.. jump on 65 south after Gary, IL then get on SR 30. Jump back on 80 when you get to PA... Zero tolls.. A little bit of stop and go until Ft Wayne but nothing worth paying several hundred in tolls over..
