You are correct I forgot to mention that every morning I take two vitamins to start my day. No matter what everyone should take them. Meals these days don’t have what the body needs.

Low 7s from October 1st, 2018 to last day of March 2019 and driving mostly at 62 MPH and pulling heavy loads over 75k for the most part. I’m guessing I’ll be over 7.5 in the other months. I have a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia DD15.

My Omnitracs doesn’t tell me my idle percentage. I haven’t added that service to my plan.

53 ft dry van - your just a small fish in a ocean of millions of small fish. Got to separate yourself.
Something simple as hauling hazmat. Almost all one truck operators can’t haul it , so you find a way and increase revenue.
Lift gate, pads, straps, crane trailer(van) ramps, heated trailer, roller bed, TSA, find something to set you apart from the heard.

Walmart is doubling their fleet,, Amazon is looking for in-house carriers to run for nothing, plus Uber. The oil field is slow putting thousands of sand haulers in competition for load board freight,
You can’t do what Blair does overnight, it take a big learning curve, I haul a lot of tall loads, but again you can’t do it without training and help.

Point is you need to find a way out of the big pool, make a plan and go for it before you go belly up.

FYI when I started in the 70’s, van freight was the cheapest freight around and still is,

Surprisingly I found out that eating mostly food at truck stops like hot dogs, burritos, and whatnot, is sufficient when it comes to essential nutrients. The problem lies in eating the same food almost daily. You have to vary it a bit even if it’s not the healthiest food out there.

Now how do I know this? Years back I got a blood work done and everything came out okay except a little low in zinc! The doc said I was fine. Who knew, right? I suspect the people who make these truck stop foods pack them with plenty of vitamins and minerals. It might explain why it isn’t always tasty. Hahaha.

I shut my truck off only if it’s between 32-60 degrees.

If I have to sweat to save a few bucks to survive I am doing it wrong. Hell I idle when I shower just so it stays cool.

I still rarely book anything in advance, unless I'm already empty.

I usually never book unless I'm empty, or close to it, as in, currently being unloaded. I still rarely even call on a load. I always wait until someone calls me, and I have been getting more specific about my desired destination, or I have a couple of brokers looking for me, but it's almost never good money.

My truck is only 2.5 years old and I still only have currently 221k miles on it, so I feel as if I have miles to spend, so I'm not above driving 4,000 miles in a week. Sometimes it's easier to book a 2000 mile load and have to do nothing but get up and drive, rather than unload and stress about finding a reload and not being sure where to try and go, or if there will even be a load going to that location.

I take multivitamins and I dont eat that much. A small coffee in the morning kinda supresses the appetite, and I also feel my metabolism slowing down the older I get, and thus I'm not hungry until late afternoon, and I'll make a sandwich and eat a couple of crackers, and then I'll eat a little bit more in the evening. I also drink a lot of water and rarely soda except on weekends ill have a can of pepsi.

I've also noticed a couple of gray hairs.

Started first of the year as well. New driver with own Numbers. It has been ok for the most part, a few bumps here and there but nothing to bad. Biggest issue for me is trying to get the truck over the hump on maintenance. Spent almost $18755.76 so far this year. I hope I am finally ahead of the curve now. Rates are not that bad but nothing like last years rates.
