I guess I have two questions please.

    1. So there is plenty of work if you are an o/o without a trailer?

    2. If you have your own trailer, you just leave it in a city somewhere if pull a company trailer and go back for it when you get another load to that city? Or do you make sure to always live load it and keep it with you always.

You can lease your tractor on to a trucking company without a trailer and run under their authority and pull their trailers if you and your tractor meets or exceeds theirs and D.O.T. qualifications.

If you are getting your own authority (and plan to get your loads from shippers/brokers), you'll need your own trailer if Im reading your question right? Shippers/Brokers dont usually furnish the trailer.

Yes you read it right thanks. I was asking about your own authority yes. So if you have your own trailer and want to pull a company trailer for a day or so, do you leave your trailer at the shipper or at a truck stop and come back for it?

Had a company call yesterday, asked if we would drop our trailer at their place (if needed) and pull their trailer, make a delivery and a pickup then return the trailer to them. Sounded great till we got to the point of money. They put an awful lot of value on the use of their rolling stock as they only wanted to pay about $.80 per mile all in for what amounted to a 1000 miles over 3 days (over a holiday to boot).

    BIG SPENDERS!!!!

Did you tell them you would send 10 trucks right over, and more if they could keep them busy.

Something about the sentence "leave my trailer in a city somewhere" kind of turns me off. I picture it on a milk carton.

Oh they are plenty big enough to keep 10, 100 or probably 1000 trucks busy but I suspect they want you to pay $99.89 to be a "Prime" supplier and make the big money ;-)

I met other drivers out here that do power only, its an option where you use your bobtail and pull the customer trailer, some say it work out some say it don't.
What do you mean by pay $99.89 to be a prime supplier and whats considered the big money?
