Sure you can: all the way to the inspection site/scene of the accident.

Who knows. I'd strap every row regardless of the regulation.

We hauled nursery trees that way. Started loading at the back of the trailer first row leaned against a backstop 2 straps next row leaned against the first no straps, 3rd row leaned against the second, 1 strap on third row and continue on until loaded.

Every other row strapped and then tapped with mesh nursery tarp. Load never moved and no one ever blinked a eye. The load laying on itself kinda tied itself altogether. Not saying it's right. But it worked and hauled them halfway across the country that way.

In all honesty I don't think any of the straps did much as they had to be strapped across the root wad. Always hauled me in the spring root wads were wet and muddy then you'd go threw a big rainstorm and they got even wetter and sloppier. I'd imagine sod kinda same deal tarp does more for secure meant then straps.

I've hauled several tree loads and they were like you say. They aren't going anywhere.

I hauled one tree load. It was an interesting gig. Most of the "securement" and the mesh tarp were done by the loading crew. 20160225_164704.jpg

I've probably hauled a dozen tree loads. I like them.

They are heavy loads. I chose to run that load only because the oil field was slow last February. Hopefully I will never have to pull another.

That load also had karma. It was the load I was pulling when I witnessed a car in front of me blow a steer tire, get sideways off the interstate, then roll four times. The driver and one passenger weren't wearing seat belts and were ejected. One passenger wore a seat belt and could walk, but I'm sure had a broken back. The driver was life flighted out, the car rolled on him. I donated my good jacket to the young lady to keep her legs in a position on the back board to mitigate the pain. She was thrown a good sixty feet from where the car came to rest.

I've only ran one that was heavy. it was brokered. The rest were direct and always light.

Yeah, mine was a broker load. I might have bypassed a couple of scales along the way.
