i was afaraid you'd say this..But Its True
Ok,I was being irrational on double ther freight rates..But a significant increase for us Independents/small carriers is a must..(Whether we see it as a whole industry or not)...If im forced to an Electronic Logging Device, The Sense in Running a business, (Which I look at it as, I drive the Truck,But I consider myself a Businessman,Not a Truck Driver) Is Torn From all the Hard Work,All the Blood I sweat outside the Truck ,Etc..
Its almost 'Embarrassing' That a Man with a proud, positive and professional aptitiude must Adhere to a Governmental Opinion and just 'adapt' to what They Think is the road to safety
so, you think your safe with the elog and hos.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the states will no doubt do the same and nit pick us the same way and jack up fines as well its the logical thing to do.
If you were a governor of a state and you had to generate revenue what wouldn't you do to a venerable cash cow with a bad rep for killing people in the name of safety?
I had an e log it was fine when you run long distance but drop and hooks made it a pain in the behind and in my hands had to pick it up put it down pick it up put it down I thought I had arthritis in my hands at one point.
For every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction, this ever so true in regulations in this industry and since it already over regulated in the name of safety just think about what's really going to happen and who will be the winners and who will be the losers.
The law regulations are being used like a weapon to shoot the competition and who's using the gun to their benefit? The people who can afford the bullets that's who. That's not what our government is supposed to allow it's self to be used for but it does on a daily basis, today you are legal tomorrow you may not be it depends on who stuffs who's wallets. -
Ok,You seem to be pretty knowledgeable and Right about this
my question and ONLY question to you is......
What Do we do to fix This? As Tax-paying,Hard-Working, Business minded American Truck driver with a family and a Goal in life,,
Again i ask you, How do you Fix/Remedy ths obvious Problem? -
-
here is a thought: this might hurt some but, just like we are getting hurt, we can hurt mega cheap carriers. Every time you see the mega carrier doing something wrong, or you think that they are doing something wrong, call in the DOT. Isn't that what they are doing to us, in a way? I know that there are going to be some hurt feelings but, it is the survival of the fittest-smart now.
-
DOT won't do anything. They don't have the time to listen to the truckers.
-
what the company driver doesnt realize is that he is an extension of the very people driving this industry into the slave market
eobrs, lane control, two cams, all these control and monitoring devices are killing the freedom that many of us sought when coming into trucking
but as these megas piss off their own drivers, they will join the independent drivers, sooner or later
or get swallowed up with the rest of them
what was that movie with Roddy Piper, they live? -
-
Sounds like the teenage mutant ninja safety chip implanted guys at the megas are already ratting each other out from the sounds of the schneider guy who only excercised common sense and independent decision making skills. We'll just leave that to them, at least you can still look at yourself in the mirror with some self respect.
