YEP! Just raise the White Flag and surrender... that's what Washington, Jefferson, Madison and THAT bunch did! That's why we still kneel to the throne of Great Britain, right??? Too many have gotten too comfortable and now advocate apathy and submission instead of independence and freedom.... ahhh... we destroy ourselves from within... pitiful!

Without question, the HOS is the bigger problem... being able to "fudge" (yeah, CHEAT!), is what ELD's are MEANT to prevent... the problem being that the mega's STILL cheat by tampering with the ELD records, but the little guys won't be able to afford the techies to stay on the same page...

Sure they can, who's auditing logs for the small guys now. They can figure out how to edit, and change settings on the logs. Editing creates an electronic trail either way so while they might be able to fool for the short term they'll still have questions to answer for the long term. Like the company I just left had their Auto Change of Duty Status set for 5 miles didn't take drivers long to figure out that you can move 5 miles, park it for 3-5 minutes, and do it again and your duty status wouldn't change. Unless they create a full time position for monitoring and assigning miles without hours they're going to have some problems down the road.

From what I've seen if companies, mega or small, want to run compliant all the time they'll need to turnover nearly all of their office staff. The industry is so broken on a whole that tweaking the HOS or forcing ELD's will not create any meaningful change.

you forgot to throw in the amount of time it takes to get out of los angeles. those that love elogs could easily be taking there 10 in the middle of town. IF you had any place to park.

Here's food for.thought for the hard headed e log supporters. Why should any of us and that includes you too obey a system that cheats US from jump street? In other words pay by mile in its entirety is deceptive pay on its face that does not and will not get any better even if everyone had them installed.
The system remains in place because big business along with big brother says it's good for us and that's all we should be allowed to make in a country that claims we are all free to work as hard as we wish???
Hey hard head what's wrong with this picture?
Don't tell me you are of of the mindset that rates will go up and so will your pay if everyone has these little toys in all our trucks because I can tell you right now that does not include you because remember the two big daddy's just said that you make enough money and so therefore you won't need a pay increase.
Safety you say? It's not about safety it's about lawyers and their ability to sue at the drop of a hat.
Now if we had the same power and respect as grown men and the book was thrown out and we ran on our own terms and abilities the other people who would stand to gain would have nothing including lawyers.
It's the best way in a so-called deregulated market other than that it's not truly deregulated.

The sick part is this when you get down to brass tacks... Jimmy ran the industry and yes he used violence to get his point across and the government does the same yet gets more respect even when they are telling you and I that's enough money for us to live on.
The brainwashing line they use is you should live within your means all the while making far more than we do?
What may be enough for you may not be enough for me but I should be rewarded for my labor not punished for it since the powers that be will not pay me under another system nor pay me anymore per mile.
    What's wrong with this picture???

It's not the staff it's the pay by mile system that the big boys want to keep in place.
