...and expect to provide THEM a service; not the other way around. Seems like some of the crybabies posts tend to show aggravation because they couldn't have it all THEIR way. I mean, what with them being on a vacation and all...

My point in short is this....

If you are gonna make a career of this and stay with it. Take the advise and u will succeed . You are the direct represenitive of the company u drive for if u don't have a chip on your shoulder and think the world owes u (attitude) u will suceed .
It is the ones whom cry moan and groan and never happy no matter what that have isuees out here on a regular basis.
Is it perfect ? No ... Not by far.
    Could it be better? Yes...
    Are contidions excellent ? No

But it is your profession when it's good it's good and when it's bad... Well... Be glad you have a job ... Even if it's not ideal right now..

    Layoffs

    Walmart 800 last week
    Gm 2500
    The list goes on....

Guys be glad that SOME companies are tighten up their requirements and weeding out bad apples ( not that anyone does not need a job) but if u are professional u in some case are treated that way...

Green horns (rookies),(students) what have u...
Best of luck just know u must be professional out here take the good with the bad and u will be sucessful out here.
Don't let the CRYBABY , TRUCSTOP PIRATES whom gamble and video game them selves and steak dinner themselves out of money get u down ...
    Don't refuse a load ...
Lots of these crybabys don't want to go out of their region , or comfort zone, but in these times take what they give u run where they want u to , reset your book when u can ... U will be fine... Little slow but it will begin to pull out soon... 6/8 mths should have GDP back up and freight volume will follow...

Good luck stay positive ATTIUDE is everything ...!!

You should have added when in doubt Get Out And Look. It doesn't have to just apply to backing only... Believe me.

Some sound advice in here...but I wouldn't expect any less from an old Kentucky boy...lol

Seriously though, a lot of folks join this industry thinking "I can drive" and they're probably right...but if all we did was drive (especially daytime, fairweather driving), most no one would ever get out of trucking. The things that seem to typically make folks quit after a few months are being alone for a week or 2 at a time, sitting for hours in a parking lot or dock waiting to be loaded/unloaded, trying to slide tandems and fifth wheels to axle the truck out in 20 degree weather, poor time management, getting 30 miles down the road to a scale and finding out the shipper overloaded you and having to go back and have it redone, dealing with a smart alleck shipper or broker, irregular work schedules and so on.

Like I've always heard "it takes a special breed to be truck driver". Folks who've never driven or don't know the ins and outs of the job don't understand that.
