What's up with the hatred towards truckers; what spawned that? I suppose there are several regions within the states that hate "outsiders" particularly in parts of the Appalachians. There are places you can live next door to someone for more than ten years and not be considered a neighbor. I was told once just because you had your kids here don't make em no southerner; after all a cat can have its kittens in an oven but that don't make em biscuits. Hard to argue with that logic. Some people don't need a reason to hate.

I started pulling flatbed and dry vans in Powell Wyoming for a drilling fluid warehouse in 1980...ha...I remember the day I was told, take a load of mud out to the Hunt pin rod rig in thermopolis. I said, "I don't have a licience." He said, "Can you drive that truck, it's a stick," I said "Yea, I would like to try" he said, "Tomorrow when you get back I'll have you run a letter over to the motor vehicle dept and get your class 1 licience, but you really don't need it out here, it's just a piece of paper."

The next day, I took a MV written and gave them a note from my boss, that said, "he drives for me", I got the class 1 licience. I drove 18 wheeler through fields of snow at night, not even on a road, and only being guided by the rig lights....I am talking Old wild west driving stuff, but I didn't know any better......stupid enough to not know any better. I still remember my co-driver and his flask of whiskey he would call, "his snake bite", we drove all over the over-thrush belt during the oil boom, till it went bust in 1981.

I am glad to see the BOOM agian and I need a job pretty bad, if anybody needs a driver, please PM me. I have a California all endorsement CDL A. 2 years of oil field driving from 1980-1981, never a accident or incident and I even rented a truck in 2008 and took my California DMV Road test and passed no problems..Thank you kindly if any drivers out there can help me out.

I'll go for that. Is your terminal in Williston or do you keep your rigs up North of there?

Does anybody know what the average hourly rate is for an O/O hauling crude up in North Dakota, or are they paid by the load?

$145 x 15% = $123.25 (many pay by the bbl/mile but it works out in this range somewhere. I've seen as low as $110 and as high as $125.

May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. I hope you enjoy your stay in Kandahar. I got back from an all expense paid trip there in July. Hope you go thru Farah , it has a nice small town feel .The dfac has the best drink selection in country and they run CNN International on the big screen.
