Hello I'm Robert. I'm willistons newest crude hauler. I've been on the job approximately 3 days hauling crude in the patch up here in ND.
True, long, long hours. 14 hours is standard, 16 plus some days.
Housing is a problem....true.
People jack trucks....urban legend ...I've never even heard a rumor about this.
The cold is crazy true. Prepare for it now.
30 an hour is on the low side for pay. You WANT to be on percentage...pay is much higher because you can adjust barrels to make more $$$$... A lot more.
Anything else,,,,just ask...
Welcome to financial freedom if you come up here.
Robert.
So you want to haul crude oil in the badlands of ND?

Just an update for everyone. I know Kelly, we have talked many times on the phone and I told him about TTR. I'm going to share his story.
The reason he hasn't been back on the TTR Forum is that he landed an excellent job in ND and he is busy. He has several years of OTR trucking experience and worked in the oilfields several years back, so his resume is much more desirable than mine and many others.
The company he went to work for won't even talk to you unless you are in ND. This is the case with many jobs and certainly all the great jobs. He is on target to gross well over $100,000 anually hauling crude, on a per load basis, working a rotational schedule.jvar4001 Thanks this. -
I just sent a tanker up there with 2 drivers and you guys are all correct, IT IS CRAZY!!! Crazy conditions and crazy money!! Please be careful. I have a contract to send over 100 more over the next couple of months. The cold is Horrible, Extreme conditions 30 below is actual temp.

I suppose if you're from down south 30 is cold, but I walked to school colder than that and I'm only43. In N.D. That is pretty normal to hit that in winter.

My question is this, is there a pay difference for winter and summer months in ND? -
I haven't seen any pay difference for winter over summer. ND does seem to pay about 25% more than any other state with oilfield jobs though. I do see several that offer a rather large year end bonus based on months of service during the year. I think you will see more incentives designed to keep employees year round as time goes on. -
Everytime I read something like that; I get another crazy idea. Like a Rookie Driver Fresh outta school driving Crude. Then a day or evening later I realize its not going to happen. (Sadness sets in) Ill cya up there after my tour in Texas lol... Rookies gotta start somewhere folks.
