hum...maybe weight?
Some Crude haulers get a percentage of the haul vs hourly pay, so maybe they push the weight limits to get extra money? That is just a guess on my part though.
So you want to haul crude oil in the badlands of ND?

I am heading to North Dakota. This forum seems like there is some good info. I want to read more about what to expect from each of the companies or places that I could possibly get hired. Very interesting post.

I believe you are correct based on what I have been told. The weight of a barrel of crude varies greatly and you can calculate the weight based on specific gravity when you test it. You load as many barrels as you can scale. The truck is payed on barrels and you get a percentage of that. -
Is 25% a good pay for driver hauling crude? Job is out of willistonS.D.
Thanks for your comments,I.M. -

Sorry I haven't posted in days but I work 12 to 14 hours a day for 5 days then take 2 off. Adjusting barrels means you let the oil flow on the truck until you get the desired amount of oil you are supposed to haul. Our meters read in barrels.
Rookie drivers up here usually start out on the rigs of hauling pipe until they get enough experience driving so they will be safe hauling crude oil.
Catch up with you later guys. Off to work .... -
ironmule Thanks this.

I know it has been asked before but, which companies are the better ones to work for. Have some of the better ones become not so good and some of the not so good become better. Just trying to get a feel for the lay of the land there. Thanks for the info.
