I have been running trucks in ND and Mt for 3 yrs, I have found that the only the only thing constant in the oilfield is change. My drivers make a lot of money and earn every penny. Their is no corilation with driving over the road and hauling oil. I have had new drivers do great and guys with 20 yrs over road that fail. I will take a guy whos been in Irag or Afganistan any day the tof the week. I dont hot seat the truck, my drivers live in their truck. It takes a special person to make it,The only thing worse than the snow is the mud, the only thing worse than the mud is the dust. But I have never done anything that pays good thats easy.

Bushwack i just got an offer of $110 a day per diem and 18% hauling water. Im doin it now in Arkansas and thinking about tryin ND is this good pay up there?
-
I would be suuspicious about per deim pay, It was the norm several years ago but no one I know is doing it now. $22 to $25 is the going rate for water and dump drivers. If you go up and that job does not work out you can find another with out a problem. Most people pay every two weeks so you will know soon enough and after you get there you can talk with the other drivers and see how the company is treating them. Most people are good, but their are a few bad ones. Good luck.

really empty promises?

DVT is a scab company up here they got a bad Saftey rating and even worse reputation... They lost all there big contracts a year or so ago ago... They mostly haul water to rigs and or flow back jobs.... I see a few oil haulers.... There are a lot better oil haulers to work for up here.... Use this link....
My shopper.net thats the local williston jobs paper....FATHEROFFOUR Thanks this. -
You guys that think I'm serious about not doing drug tests don't get it. In my opinion anyone who is worried if or what kind of drug test someone uses doesn't need to work up here or anywhere. Let them think that they can skate thru and teach them a lesson.

Been involved out there for a year and a half, and have heard of or experienced most of what you typed. Whatever you listed that I haven't heard of until now does NOT surprise me. So many people go out there thinking of being millionaires within a couple years, not having a clue what they are getting themselves into. People living in their cars is not an uncommon sight in the WalMart or Hotel parking lots, let alone on the side of the road.
Rollovers happen on such a regular occurrence, there is a "fail of the day" passed around with the picture of the 18 wheeler on its side.
Navigating this environment is not easy, and the less experience you have, the harder it is. OTR drivers with no off road experience do not last long.
