If there was a pressure gauge on the tank I'd check that first. Try to vent the tank but often times those vents were useless. I'd hit the latch on the lid with my head turned into the wind as much as possible. While gauging the tank I'd try to hold my breath and not breath directly from the tank fumes.
Its inevitable that you'll get a whiff once in a while.

why not get a respirator to wear. I know they are a pain to put on and take off, But You won't have to deal with the gases.

you do get fit tested for a resperator and tanks that contain H2S do have oxygen tanks on sight and all our trucks have the masks on board but so far I haven't needed it..if there is no wind movement then that is when it's most dangerouse but well it's ND and there's no such thing as no wind movement..:biggrin_2559:

In my reading about H2S they said that some areas have a much worse problem with it than others.

That may be why they don't wear monitors or masks around these parts.

with the company I work for we are required to wear monitors at all times..I've hauled mostly production water and run a vac truck so I don't have high exposure to H2S but it's still there..we go through a 10 hr OSHA course and our orintation is a week long(paid) so we are all aware of the risks but with education comes saftey(hopefully) and well that's why they pay the $'s to have us there and to be safe and do the job right..it is a physical job but not hard..I climb alot of steps durring the day and drag hoses and get dirty but I get to be in my own bed everynite and I work 3 weeks on and take 7 days off and I have yet to meet an unkind individual in these parts..I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great paying job(No...I'm not a recruitor..lol) :biggrin_25523:

:biggrin_2559:..well we have alot of right out of school drivers including myself so they give you as much time as you need..if you've driven alot before and can float and your down shifting is good(for obviouse reasons) then you might only need to be with a trainer for a week..but insurence reasons everyone has to be with a trainer and signed off in order to go on their own..now I can't say about the roads in the winter yet and I'm praying I can cut the mustard..lol..everyone is suportive and says I can do it so I'll give it a go and my best shot..but ya'll will be the first to know if I wimp out..:biggrin_25523:

I have done a little research, and looked on the websites you provided it all seems to be useful info, but I was still wondering how many hours do you work per week on average and do you have to take a week off or can you keep on working if you want. If you don't mind what is a avg week like, do you just hook up pump and haul to site or is there other work also. Please give me a detailed info if you can, thanks.
