It's tough out there right now for hotshots.
I run one and the good paying loads are hard to get. If you plan on running off the load boards it's gonna be a hard road.
So you want to hot-shot? (Will be updated/edited frequently)

You stated 10 hours of driving each, but the actual rule is 11 allowed driving hours, 22 total, and with breaks, meals etc, that won't be a problem in a 24 hour day.

The other bit of wisdom I would like to impart is, get some experience before laying out $50-$60k. Do a little research, find a decent company that will train you, and put you in a truck for a year or so.
AVOID ANY LEASE/PURCHASE!!!!!!
That way you will learn proper load securement, and get some "trucking life" experience. You, or your partner, may decide that life in a truck, ain't for you. If either of you are married, your spouse may decide that. -
Great advice. I started my hotshot business a few years before I got married. Now, that I'm married with a baby at home its very hard to be gone more than one night.JRBailey Thanks this. -
Passenger seat or back seat will be considered on duty not driving.JRBailey and Chasingthesky Thank this. -
