I`m if I haven`t searched hard enough for the answer, I apologize but I`m curious what you think about a FL60 Freightliner being used for Hot shots, I drive a new 2018 for the OTR big rig company I drive for and am used to big trucks. Im planning to keep a fridge and microwave on the truck, the rigs im looking at are around 65 to 70K for a unit, any thoughts on going with that big a rig?

There are big pluses and big minus. Comfort versus a lot less overhead. If you find that ninch market that would generate enough income to justify it. Then again you could be bringing in more with smaller truck. Like oil change cost a whole lot less. Tires are less. Run light enough and no IFTA. Tolls are less. Less insurance cost. Fuel etc.

I have a CDL so that was a reason I was looking into a big unit, I was looking to give myself the extra head room in case i got a heavy load, not a fan of pushing a truck to its weight limit.
Right now i`m trying to dig around for a company as well as see what they may require, and if they can load up a truck that size effectively.

People who push their truck to the limit don’t have a truck long term. It is always best to plan for the long haul.

Just trying to answer to your original post. If there was no advantage to running a pickup no one would be running one. I could be wrong but it seems you do not want to hear what I am saying. If that is the case I suggest not read this part of the Trucker Report. The vehicle you use is just a tool. Different tools for different jobs. I operated a Tank in the Marine Corps, the snipers used a different tool than I did. They had a different job.

Actually it’s Drivers that can get that many miles out of one that are few and far between. Can’t really blame a truck for how it’s driven and maintained.
