    Take all the money you have,..and all of your worldly possessions,..through it all in a big pile and light it on fire,....Then drink a beer and watch it burn,...

    You'll lose it all faster and it will be less painful that way,...

    There is a big misconception in this business. I hear it all the time, just like you said, "My buddy made $143K last year." WRONG, the truck made $143K and most likely the truck spent over $100 grand for fuel/maintainence/insurance/permits/2290/ and on and on. Why won't he tell you what he netted? And did he pay his personal expenses (home mortgage,kids clothes,car payment, wifeys clothing/food etc) with what he netted from the truck? Do more investigating BEFORE you jump in. :glasses5:

    Yea, I realize his pay didnt include costs. Looks like I will stay a company driver. Thanks for all the advice.

    Getting loads is easy. Getting GOOD PAYING loads is another story.

    now if you have your own authority alot of companies dont care about your driving record and that type of stuff

    Provided you have everything in place like insurance. If you pull their trailers, you bet they'll care about your driving record!

    If you have your own authority you have no need for a "company" except your own. And if your leased to a company they will care just as much as if you were a company driver for them.
