Good luck with your new truck. Sounds like a very doable monthly payment. Are you getting your own authority or leasing on with someone? Post some pics of your truck. Maybe a new thread on your new endeavor!!

So you're making payments on the same truck for 10 years? I know I would certainly consider all my other options before doing this.
    Happy New Year everyone!

Driving part time with 2 small companies for the experience, shopping now for a truck.
I got a offer with a small company full time Friday.
They are not paying a fortune, but working full time with one company is better than part time with 2 companies.

They have a plate program,Insurance( about half the cost) and work out the IFTA details.
    Basically I need a truck,DOT inspection report (for my vehicle),DOT physical report,etc..

The small company that offed me a job on Friday doesn't care if I have my own auth.,I would run on theirs.

Local work, their guy's are home every weekend ( unless you want to work) and almost every night.

Do what you want there Cruiser. The only thing you'll get around here is criticism. As far as most people on here are concerned, unless you asked them you will fail. It's not rocket science.

Work hard, save your pennies and you'll be able to weather the hard times if they come. It makes for a lot less stressful career too.

Strong words from somebody with a whopping 11 posts and as far as I can tell, no experience.
I agree there's quite a bit if egos and negative attitudes around here, but as far as I'm concerned, I only post to try and help folks out. I've just started out on my own a few months ago and have learned quite a bit. I try and share when I think it will do some good, only if I think someone might benefit from what I have to say. Let's face it, guys are going to do what they want to do no matter what folks on this board say or suggest. I had some saying I was nuts and stupid, but enjoy proving them wrong. I don't have to post to them any "I told you so" nonsense. Just knowing for myself that I'm doing it and things are working out is plenty good enough for me. I never tell someone not to follow their dreams. I try and help so they can become successful. If someone asks for my opinion, I'm happy to provide it. I don't have all the answers, nobody does.

Post count means nothing. I have my own authority, paid off truck, trailer, no bills and cash in the bank. PM me if you need some questions answered Cruiser. I would be more then happy to help if I can.

Me too...no truck or trailer payment, my own Authority and some $$ in the bank. Only bills are those that are re-occurring such as insurance, fuel, etc....

I'm just here trying to help folks out....

I know for me, I'm planning on needing $100,000 to include the purchase of the truck, plates, authority, insurance, etc. including having a few months of fuel money to last until pay starts rolling in.
