You have driven for 4 years. Now you are looking to become a business owner. First, take your time and do your research. It seems that you are, but don't let that money burn a hole and be gone.
Assess your capabilities and heart felt desires. Are you a detail person. Do you like crunching numbers, filing paperwork and pursuing new opportunities? Is there someone in your life who complements your skills and passion?
Being a business owner is a huge leap beyond driver. I am a new driver, but have been business owner. This is is one very complicated business ...looking to get worse.
It might be a good time to buy a rig. That is based on a contrarian feeling that the bottom is near. If not.....where is the bottom?

I am wanting to get some feed back from O/O, my husband is wanting to sign a lease purchase agreement with Kings Express Inc. I am worried that with the economy the way it is, may it is not such a great idea!!! Does anyone have any advice on this? He has been with the same company for a year now if he does not work he does not get paid end of story but with leasing a truck he still has to pay that weekley payment. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!

 

I have never heard of the company but most L P are way in favor of the lessee and bad for the lessor.
If you do not have the money for a down payment on a truck then do not become an O/O. Have you talked to any truck dealers? Try that and see what it takes to own a truck and then see what it costs to run one and make money before you sign anything. Let us know how it works out.

now i really dont mean to discourage you or your husband but to be honest a lease purchase is a fools game that is all centerd to make money for the company, in fact your paying for the compamys truck and it never is what the company says it is no matter what or who the company is you will find once you get started after the first two or three loads it changes drasticly then the mony or the loads stop.

Read most threads on this forum and find that most companies Love Lease Operators to keep their cash flow working until they close and then the Lease Operator has to fight the bank for their truck.
