I do love them. We have owned a bunch of them. But these days I'd never buy one I had to have a payment on.
I just bought an 86 359 pete to half play with half work with I've wanted a 359 for some time.

Here's the deal. I drove for a small co for the last 2.5 years, hauling steal. Now the gal who owns the co wants me to buy the T/T from her. Tractor is a 99 W900 with 700,000 miles, and a in frame recently, with a 3 year warnnety. Trailer is a 99 flatbed, with a new quick draw top. She wants $64000 for both. Payment would be $477 a week for both. Truck was bringing in around $3000 to $5000 a week. With fuel at $3.30, can a guy make a profit? Is it worth it?

I have to see the specs and condition of the tractor and trailer before I could say if 64K is resonable. From what little you posted about the two, I'd say "ballpark" at best, however a fresh inframe cost 11-12K, and a 3 year warrantee is very nice to have.

Yeah, maybe to her, but doubtfull to the driver. Take those gross numbers (I assume they are gross) and knock off the 20-25% cut she gets. Use the lower figgure of 3K, not the 5K

Ask her why she wants to sell them in the first place.

 

Been on T/paper on line. Only found 1 W900 (99) for less money.(in my area) This truck I drove for the last 1.5 years. She wants $38,000 for the tractor, $26,000 for the trailer. Trailer has a $15,000 new quick draw top on it. To much money? Can I make enough money at $3000 a week to make a $477 a week payment, or on slow weeks will I be dipping into my personal accounts?

 

Tractor is a 99 KW with a 500 cummins, 18 speed. It sat for two years. Previous owner didn't drive a lot, and passed away. It sat for two years before she bought it. I drove it for 1.5 years and was doing about 140,000 miles a year.

 

The way you posted the money that the truck brings, coupled with that $477 per week payment sounds great on the surface. But be for we sit here and yes yey or nay, we'd have to know much more.

Lets start with how much is in fuel surcharge. Then how much is regular revenue, then what is your percentage of that rev? How many miles per week do ya drive to get that 3-5K.

Normaly an O/O gets 100% of the FSC.

 

FSC is 27%, O/O gets it all. Of the $3000/wk + 27% FSC , truck payment, ins, can a guy make a living?
