    I think the fine was $250. & I did not have the phone to my ear, it was under my palm & on top of the wheel. I had both hands controlling the wheel. That is still grounds for a ticket in my state.

    I am certainly going to list the ticket on applications, as it is 100% true that I did something wrong, there is no law protecting me from hiding that fact, & I will not hide from that fact. I am probably not going to list the accident that neither the city that the accident occurred in, nor the state DMV office has any record of. The accident does not exist bureaucratically or legally. As for the accident that is NOT recorded at the DMV, as I've said above, I am probably going to take responsibility for this accident, as it DOES exist bureaucratically/legally, at city level. I feel that it would feel disingenuous & that is what I would like to avoid.

    I know for some companies driving while on cell phone is a huge deal but you do need to put that on app.

    Im in the same boat as you. Got out of rehab in April in CT, wondering if we were in the same one together lol. I am applying for a WIA grant however; I don't want to start off $5000 in the hole to my family when I can have the government pay. Go to an "American Job Center." and get the process started, if you hurry you may be able to get your application in by the August 9th deadline, if not you will have to wait another 2 months or so until the next application deadline. You will have to go to about 4 different appointments at AJC and get some paperwork filed out at your desired school before you can submit the application for the WIA funding. I am going to All-State in Seymour, CT but I believe NETTS takes WIA grants as well. WIA will pay up to $5k and what do you know All-State charges $4900. They offer 40 hours of one on one on the road instruction in 1.5 hour sessions before you take your driving test with them. It is a single screw day cab with a 10 speed stick and a '40 trailer. You get your own dot form, 5 panel pee test, and cdl learners permit and they supply the equipment and training for you to pass the driving test and get your full cdl. They ask about your criminal history but just to cover their ### so you don't complain you can't find a job after, it is in their interest to enroll you.

    Most of those I've seen do specify in a CMV. I think for this as long as he realizes cell phone usage is a huge no-no in a CMV he will be fine.

    @philsfan I've been going to American Job Center chasing that grant. I just had orientation the other day. Unfortunately, from the looks of the financial eligibility requirements graph, I don't think I qualify at this time. Not unless I change my address to a friend's apartment or something. I can't do that lol.

    I also live in Ct and I wanted to drive tri-axle dumps. I took the written test and passed, which is based on the DMV CDL booklet, all the answers to the test are in it. When the time came for the road test, I had prearranged for a buddy to rent a Penske single axle box truck over 26,000 gvw, (and for him to take the day off to do it, BTW he was also in recovery, as I am, about 1 year then, now 26, amazing what people in the rooms will do for each other!!!) which is big enough for a Class B. Cost me less than $200. for the rental, and I walked away with my CDL. My first job in the Hartford area driving tri-axles came with a fake medical card furnished by my sleazy employer. Pay was low, maintenance was terrible, but I got exactly what I wanted / needed. And you can too. Obviously this isn't the route for a CDL-A, or OTR, but you'll know soon whether this is the life that you want. Best of luck! BTW - The legality aspect of this topic have been beaten to death, time for some legwork.

    When I was in the Navy, the ZigZag Man was a popular tattoo. Most sailors put it on the back of their hand which was a show of defiance to the military, but the bar girls loved it. No, I didn't get one.
    I wanted the "Dancing With The Green Fairy" tattoo, but didn't get around to it. Maybe I'll do that as a retirement gift to myself. Will have to get something removed first since no vacant space left on my arms.

    @Chinatown
    My CB handle was / is Zigzag, exactly for the reasons you mentioned, and then some! If I had to take on a new handle today, probably be "Old And In The Way" (illegal smile for the John Prine fans)

    With talking to so many different police departments and DMV and city folks... I think you have the legal issues well addressed. Sounds like the serious issue has been removed and will not pose a problem for you.

    One BIG step taken!!! Good Job!!!
