Hey y'all. I've been noticing a 'trend' in installers tricking you to install other third party content and set your browsers to another search engine etc. If you do their 'recommended' method of installation it'll do this, but if you do the custom which they say is 'expert' you can choose not to do this. Trying to scare people into doing the 'recommended' by saying the custom is for experts. So, be careful when installing freeware, and don't be surprised if you find extra junk you didn't exactly agree to installing.

CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
a VERY long time.
what pisses me off is when you can't erase ALL the traces. when you've UNinstalled there crap.
for instance. when i open my browser it goes to google. but every tab i open goes to BING. and google was no help changing that. so i'm stuck with it till i format the hard drive. -
Lol snowy is it fire fox? If so go to tools then add-ons and delete it.
-
you mean addons - plugins and disable siverlight.
still don't take me to google. but it's not taking me to bing either. -
Snowwy, install revo uninstaller the free version http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html it will open a box with all your installed programs. Select the program you want to uninstall and it will start the process, I always pick the bottom selection which gets rid of every file related to that particular program. When it completes the uninstall it will pop with files left behind, select all and delete, this is done for both popups. I have been using the program for years and dont ever have any bits or pieces left.

Never had a problem on Chrome. When I remove the add-on it stays gone, but I.E. always has those issues, though, IE was never really any good, hince why I don't use it.

I get a lot of Chrome errors lately loading google for a search. I think Bing is behind that crap trying to convince people to switch over. MSN has resorted to putting a popup on their homepage forcing you to agree to the terms of Bing if you want to continue. After 9 years of using them I said KMA!
I haven't really looked for it yet but I will. I think I'll just go ahead and delete IE all together.
Those tricks have been going on since I've been on the internet. They are just becoming more prominent.
If it's free there is a malware hitchhiker on that download of some sort. -
