Hi all. What are some solid student driver programs for those who recently graduated from truck driving school? My driving school instructor who was really great told us to find a company with good training. I am willing to drive dry van, reefer, flatbed, doubles, and tankers. I'm most concerned with getting a well rounded training for new drivers. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

needmoney Thanks this. -
Depends on where you live and how many endorsements you have.
Even better if you have TWIC and a passport.
Schneider Bulk(tankers)
Halvor Lines
Decker Truck Line
Magnum Companies
Pride Transport
System Transport
CTL Transportation
Trimac Transportation
Superior Carriers
SVTN
All these are top of the line companies.
Couple dozen more if you live in the hiring area. Put you location on your profile. Are you in Texas; this whole list hires in Texas. -
And do you know what company's have the longer runs , like all 48 ? Are most tanker jobs short haul ??? Thanks -
Epes has a good training program if you live east of the Mississippi. Good trainers, 6 weeks with the trainer, no team training and a lot of northeast running which translates into a good training environment. Solid customer base, decent equipment and good pay/benefit package.
I was was with them 3 years and trained the last year I was there. Moved on to a much better opportunity but still recommend them as a good place to get solid training.dennisroc, needmoney and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
I have a thread in the Werner forum.
I run Budweiser dedicated and love it. $900 a week guaranteed, off on weekends.
had a pretty good trainer overall. -
Thanks for the replies everyone. Im in dallas, tx. I applied to two companies so far: McElroy and Sun Coast. Nothing from Sun Coast yet. I got an invitation to a McElroy orientation. I'm thinking of applying to more companies. Read upon a lot of McElroy posts here. They seem like a good company. But I want to explore more options. I read upon Maverick and they seem to have a better student driver program than McElroy. Only thing I don't like about Maverick is that they mostly drive automatics. I was trained with Eaton Fuller 10 speed. I'm ok at shifting but definitely can work to become better. I might sound picky but i really want to build a career with my first company. I don't want to job hop if i can help it. Any more recommendations would be appreciated.

Epes also has another division that just got merged in with them. Texas star express out of Rockwall. They run the 10's. It's all one and the same company though. Not sure if they're hiring out of there but you could check them out.
needmoney Thanks this. -
Chinatown, I'm still waiting to get my twic card. Been waiting for 6 weeks. I have my tanker and doubles/triples. I will test for hazmat tomorrow. I'm working on getting a passport. And I don't know if this makes any difference, but I graduated from a PTDI certified school hoping it will help me in getting a job.
