DRL's are dimmer than your regular headlamps, and we can tell the difference

IMO, if you have to hit your high beams, then just not do anything. It always sucks when you're looking in the mirror and BAM!!! the high beams hit ya.

That's true, though in the case of my Jetta, they are the same. Odd since Jettas made before 2005 had 80% reduction resistors in the DRL system.

    SHC Thanks this.

    1. Flashing / Never use your high beams and flash when YOU think it is safe for them to come over.

    2. Wide loads / Common sense goes a long way on this subject. Never pass them on a bridge. Never pass when they are about to go under a bridge. Never pass when the lanes are decreasing, like 4 to 3 lanes. And ALWAYS raise them on the radio (If you can) and speak your intentions ie: 18 coming around on your left.

    3. Backing / Keep doing what you are doing and get out and look. You will get faster with experience. 10-4 !

NO CHOICE??? :biggrin_25523:Of course you have a choice! Blind a driver or do nothing at all! Believe it or not but most of us can tell when we have cleared your bumper. :yes2557::biggrin_2559: So do nothing!

Ahem... I believe that would be me you're talking about. You can believe whatever you like but I have never changed lanes without checking mirrors and I never will. As for hitting me with a camera flash, I've already spoken in the thread about what has indeed blinded me and what hasn't. A camera flash at close range directly in my eyes? Yep I suspect that would do it. High beams at a distance in a mirror? Nope, not nearly as bright as a camera flash at close range so it just doesn't adversely effect my vision. I wouldn't want to stare at it, but it simply doesn't blind me nor does it bother me or annoy me.

But I'll tell you what, you want me to stop? Fine I'll stop. No flashing from me ever again. There, happy now? So that takes care of me. Now what's your plan for getting the million or so other lug heads on the road to stop flashing so you're not dangerously operating a heavy vehicle while being incapacitated by devastating blindness? It obviously dangerous so surely you must have a plan for getting everyone to stop creating such hazardous situations on the road night after night. So what's your plan? I'd really like to know.

Heres one of the many threads on here about not flashing your brights to tell people they are clear.

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...from-new-drivers/162090-a-simple-request.html

Notice it as 10 Thanks. So apparently all 10 of those people, plus everybody from the countless other threads on the subject, are now unqualified to drive a truck in your opinion, simply because you claim that brights dont bother you?

    Get over yourself.

    1. Please show me where I said drivers were unqualified. I never once said that. Please stop lying about what I've said.
    2. I said I WILL STOP FLASHING. You even quoted it. Do union guys have trouble with reading comprehension? I SAID I'D STOP!!!! That means you've won. WTF more do you want? An effin' gold plated apology? Howz about we talk about YOU getting over yourself a little?
