You posted your numbers up- but then say you’re “doing just fine”.

Hm. I’m glad I know how to do math.

I said our goal is 4k to the truck, but we've been making 5k. I said the o/o are struggling. It just takes more patience to wait for good paying loads, patience and time the o/o don't have. I am sorry if it came across as we're failing that wasn't my intent. It was hyperbole when I said the fleet owner was thinking about jumping in one of his empty trucks.

Things aren’t that bad yet. All depends on what you already been through. I see a lot jumping in who are too young to know any better. They are the ones who will be throwing in the towel over next few years. Maybe. No one really knows what’s going to happen. All you can do is the best with what opportunities and resources available.

If he has that many trucks, why doesn't he call on shippers directly? I can't believe brokers are getting 1/3 (if not more) of the pay. When we build up to 3 trucks, I plan to cut out the middle man completely. And why not just hire a dispatcher? I'm thinking of trying it out because it saves time making all those ph calls.

It’s not Rocket science as they say. Common sense and willingness to work goes a long way in any business . Mistakes are inevitable. I’ve seen a lot of Operators talk the Big Talk and are now History. Haven’t met a rich Truckdriver yet. The #s we play with aren’t a lot when all is said and done.Every penny earned. So many like to BS I don’t get it. Over the years I’ve heard some doozies . It’s nice to hear some real experiences on this thread. Honesty appreciated. Best to all trying to improve living standards for ourselves and families. The old fashioned way by earning it. I sleep good that’s worth more than all the money in the world.
