Both good Colleges, but you're missing the spirit of why A&M is different. With both the Citadel and Virginia Military Institute you are REQUIRED to join their ROTC/Corps of Cadets. A&M Corps of Cadets stands out as a completely voluntary entity within the University.
ECU, we need to work on your reading comprehension.
VMI aka Virginia Military Institute.
Founded in 1839, the Virginia Military Institute is a four-year undergraduate college awarding B.A. and B.S. degrees. VMI is the nations first state-supported military college. From the beginning, the VMI experience has instilled the character traits of service to community and to others in its cadets.
All cadets complete leadership classes in one of the Institutes four ROTC programs (Air Force, Army, Marines, or Navy).
While this places VMI outside the distinction placed on academies such as Annapolis or West point it is still a government funded school which requires preparation for military service.
The Citadel
While the Citadel is a public college, it does still require all students be a member of the Corps of Cadets, thus placing them in a simlar bracket to VMI in that while not a dedicated military college, you cannot attend without joining their Corps of Cadets.

Has an endowment valued at more than $5 billion, which ranks fourth among U.S. public universities and 10th overall.

Blue, the way she described her mentor to me, made me wonder whether she got stuck with the knucklehead you trained with.
lonewolf4ad and The Challenger Thank this. -
After reading all of these mentor threads I have since joining TTR, I am beginning to think I had the only 2 good mentors ever.

It is human nature to complain before complimenting. Like any other animal, we respond faster to negative stimuli. Go figure.

Yea when she mentioned Harligen I thought she got my old smelly mentor but then he never talked about seeing Bigfoot.Injun Thanks this. -
You were never on my truck!!!! -
Men can not train wives.
It is the wives that train the men.
If you want to train a wife, it has to be done from behind.
And that, usually backfires on you in the end.
Men are hopelessly outclassed, it seems.
Or, should that be... outcast?! -
Lonewolf, you forgot to mention silver taps, and muster. It's something other schools don't do. I stood out there for silver taps when it was in the teens outside. Its a level of respect no other school has towards their students. They are things that make me proud to be an aggie.
Oh and "Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal, nor do they tolerate those who do."Last edited: Nov 7, 2011
