ANY TRAINER that puts you to work on the night shift in your first week is an A-HOLE and likes to risk your and his safety. That dumb ##### is lrunning you like a team and thats not training. Good god you cant train from the sleeper while your getting your beauty rest. Thats something you work up to so dont be afraid to speak up for yourself to the company, TELL THEM THE TRUTH. If they are ok with you driving at night in the first week, I would look for another company. A good one to consider would be central refrigerated out of utah. They actually have the trainer in the passenger seat training. BTW, your mileage is just fine, A-hole is just angry because you arent working hard enough for HIM.

Well, your college degree doesn't mean much, in that you aren't exactly using it. However, that being said, he sounds jealous. Thinking that if only HE had a degree, he wouldn't be stuck on that truck making peanuts...(his mind, not what may or may not be happening.)

He's a guy. As such, jerkhood resides on that Y chromosomes. If you have questions, you might could shoot Injun a PM, if your mentor doesn't want to answer them.

I realize this your second mentor. If you feel safe, and he's just being a tool, try stick it out. If he's doing things that are unsafe, or, well, you know what I mean, then yes, try get out. Just make sure you document, document, document. CYA is alive and well.

BTW, I think the fact you have the degree is AWESOME.

It sounds like this guy is more concerned with using you to increase his pocket book than to ensure you will be a quality driver. Plus if he is as condescending as you say, get out of the truck and talk to the company this guy is a POS. He should be working with you to make sure you understand the job and how to do it properly and safely. I agree with Momma, what an A-HOLE.

Texting while driving, running down the rumble strips, and telling me he's gonna drop me off on the side of the road. I'm trying to document, and have been since the prior mentor. Everyday I've been on his truck I've been driving at night. They schedule us for the 6 hours, but he runs me 10 + everyday or I'm not driving. It gets tiring.

He sounds like the trainer I had at USA (current trainer, your first was just a arsehole), Don't touch anything...drive your ### off, I gonna make you one of dem super truckers:biggrin_25523: and that is what I did. I DROVE HARD. USA had relaxed rules regarding training when I went thru. He watched me drive for about 30 mins. then hit the bunk, after 2 days we where in full team operation. Running coast to coast and everything was D&H (drop and hook). Only backing I did was at truckstops :biggrin_2555:. and on my solo out test!!

What he is doing with holding you back is shady/wrong, I see why tho. When you go full teams I am sure ya'll when run non stop and he wants that money. Sounds like that is all that he is after, that's all my trainer was after.

Look at it this way if he is a safe driver and lets you do the backs at this stage hold out, because when you hit full team the days will fly by and this couple of weeks of hell will be behind you. Just think you will never have to do it again.

It is just a small bump in the road on the highway of life.

    Be safe and good luck.

While typing my last post I guess a few things came up. Texting while driving NO EXCUSE!! Don't worry about the threats of dropping you off, he want's the money to badly. I would just turn a blind eye and get thru it then complain AFTER you solo out. As for the driving at night, that is just how it is. Most of my loads pick late in the day and I have to run the night shift. You will get use to it. Maybe if you just roll along at 50mph he will take over and drive the night shift. Tell him that is all you feel comfortable with at this stage in your trainng. Tell him maybe you would feel more comfortable driving if you could get sometime in the seat when the sun is up :biggrin_25525:

Maybe my trainer went over to Swift to be a mentor:biggrin_2553:

Violence is no good! I wouldnt wait I would be off that truck the minute it slowed down. I would tell him to pull the gosh darn truck over right now if its bad enough. Or if i am driving I would pull over and get out. I dont care if im on the side of the highway and in the middle of no where when my personal safety is at risk.

And remember battery is a crime, not just a civil penalty. Don't be afraid to call the police.

GET OUT NOW! Call the co. and tell them what's happening and if he does start swinging call 911 and file a report! Don't back down. At this point it's his word vs your's. I know you've been documenting and now's the time to share it!
