OMG you know Injun I thought you where allot smarter than this. Do you really think I would run a boot camp on my truck after you met me? I get along fine with my students and just remind them that they are on my truck to learn first and then everything else comes after the training.
That is my job to train students!!! I let them use my inverter and try to make the six weeks and easy and fun as I can. The only thing about the OP that I did not agree with was her crying about how the mentor charges all his stuff but she cannot charge her notebook!
She can keep in contact with family and so on using a phone if she has too. She does not need a notebook to keep in touch. I am not a new driver! I was driving OTR back in the early 90's. The first time I ever drove a big truck was when I was 15 with my Uncle.
Just because I was required to go out with a mentor with Swift does not mean that I should not be training so soon. I have the experience and the record to do so.
Seems to me that she is most likely going to have issues with the female trainer as well.
OH FYI I don't wear a blue shirt! I like my clothes and refuse to look like a yuppy
Some questions about my mentor

Blue, I am only going off what you posted here. I have never questioned your experience level and, if you recall, I was one who said I believed you would make a good mentor.
Having met you and knowing your history, that's why I was so taken aback by your postings here. You know as well as I do that just because a big company says something is within company policy, doesn't make it right.
Disallowing somebody from carrying food, water and a couple of creature comforts, while within company policy, is not right. Simply carrying a notebook and wanting to charge it does not make somebody a *derogatory term for a female body part*. You carried yours and charged it on your mentor's truck despite the fact he could have said no.
I must say I am relieved you are saying you're not as "military" as your posts here initially indicated.inkeper Thanks this. -

No all I was basically saying was that she should pay more attention to her training while she is on the truck and not say things like "well my mentor can charge all his stuff like sat radio, notebook and so on.
I try to make the student as comfortable as possible on my truck but sometimes they bring way too much stuff.
For example below my current student...
And that is not counting the stuff he has on the floor
Now why in the world does he need two cases of water with 24 bottles in each? he brought enough clothes for a month!!
There is no room in my truck for this. I also told him to make sure he charges his phone when I drive because I use the plugs for TV,Phone, laptop and so on. Now he has two phones charging when he should have done it while I was driving or in the terminal.
So I UN plugged both so I can watch TV for the first time since I bought it.
He is wanting to rearrange my stuff to try and make room for his stuff. I don't want my stuff re-arranged! I like it the way it is. he has to move this every night and it has become a pain sometimes.
7 days worth of clothes and shower items is what you should bring like my previous student. My truck is not the Holiday Inn.
What she posted that I responded to just hit me the wrong way as she seems to not have her priorities right.inkeper Thanks this. -
I have OCD as well! The student is not the one who has to get up in the middle of the night to start the truck up when the alarm goes off.
Also the goal with me is not to train you just enough to get you to pass the road test. It is also to teach you how to operate the truck in a safe manner and to help turn you into a professional driver.
Best in class means something to me and I do everything I can do to get them trained the proper way and have fun while we do it. I am totally wore out at the end of the six weeks. Not from running 5000 miles a week but from working with the students every chance I get. I am awake 95% of the time when the student is driving and this truck runs some miles.
It's not about the money for me because if a student feels he or she is not ready then the truck runs solo or super solo until they are ready. I enjoy training and really would never go back solo except for the break I get between students.
I may have only worked for Swift for a year but I drove OTR back when trucking allowed you to be the captain of your own ship. No qualcomm's, no cell phones,no governed trucks and they surely did not give you a fuel stop or route to follow.
Good ole Burlington Motor Carrier's gave me my start. I have been watching this thread now and have not been able to read it all but seems to me that this will be the students last chance. We will see how this turns out on the female mentor and female student.
Do females really get along in such a small place? I hope she gets through this but she needs to learn to just not worry about somethings and just get on with the training. Your there to learn how to drive the truck and worry about the little stuff when you get your own truck. If it is a safety issue or harassment then you need to worry.scottied67 Thanks this. -

Two cases of water? Maybe he read your story when you were on your mentor's truck. Heh...
I carried enough clothes for ten days, my camera, a sleeping bag and a pillow. Getting laundry done seemed to be an issue because Bouna had enough clothes to get himself through a student without washing. I had to threaten to wear his shirts a couple of times. Wouldn't have needed anything else. His shirts would have gone down to my knees. -
Seriously, sometimes women will relate to another woman MUCH better. Emotional creatures that we are, we know no one understands what you are going through like another woman.
I hope SS will be successful with this trainer. I can see where the company might be feeling "get it this time, or we're done" tho.
If I were you, I'd be tempted to get that student a BIG box and tell him to grab what he needs for a week, toss the rest in the box and USP ship it home. But I'm a vindictive witch that way. Especially this week. -
The thing about it he hardly drinks water!!! Also poster up top. I'm not saying females cannot get along together. I am just saying some of the girls I have met got with female mentor's and they prefer to be trained by males after what they went through. Just saying....

Hey now! how did I stick my foot in my mouth? Why is it that women seem to read much further into something than men? This is why I am not married!! there all crazy!!!60MPH Thanks this.
