Is there absolutely no way you can't work on Sundays? For example, can you say that you want to run extra hard on weekdays to opt out on Sunday at all costs, because you are religious?

They are worried about one thing. The freight. Even a co that gets you home on weekends most of the time you have to head out on sundays to make it in time.

Would they absolutely fire you if you absolutely refused to work on Sundays at all costs and instead drive super hard Mon-Sat to make up for the Sunday drive? Instead of 11 hr drive, 13 hr drive to make up for Sun?

Why do blue collar workers and people who go to military go into those fields instead of Truck driving? Truck driving doesn't require taking bunch of classes, and pays well.

How you going to do that if you have a 7 am drop on monday and have to roll sunday to make it? Plus you can't drive 13 hours. What if you load saturday and you drop monday a 1000 miles away?

Some jobs you just have to work on sundays. If you had a loved one that needed medical attention on a sunday or they would die would you expect the ambulance crew to say I will not work on sundays?

let me change this question: Why do carpenters, plumbers, welders, linemen, electricians go into those fields when Truck driving requires comparatively very little training/schooling and - i suppose -pay is about the same?

Lupe, you crack me up. Truck driving is a lot different than electrician/lineman/carpenter. Skilled trades pay much more than trucking. Trucking is mainly driving, but requires knowledge and understanding of other things. (paperwork, planning your time, how to load a trailer legally, plus much more) :biggrin_25511:

skilled trades work much more? like how much more? I thought truckers earn like $50,000 and I assumed that skilled trades earn about that much.
