Does Marten have EZ pass? What area of the countty can a solo from Georgia who stays out 30 days at a time expect to operate in? What is their chain policy? Does Marten have alot of small customers with ancient docks, or are there alot of big customers? Is there a load selection policy or is it forced dispatch? Is there alot of sitting in between loads? Are there many preplans? What kind of truck do they put n00bs in? If you have experience, will they put you out with a trainer? If so, for how long? Thanks!

Ok, first off yes Marten now has EZPass. But even with that they dont want you to run all the tolls if you can avoid it. Marten runs all 48 states so you may or may not head out west, also midwest, northeast and southern. They have chains on all trucks, yet I was told that they do not want you to use them. As far as customers, its a combo of both. We pick up and deliver at some places that are huge, and at some that are tight and tiny. No, they dont send you multiple loads and you pick the one you want. They send you one load. Now they say forced dispatch, but I have yet to be made to pick up a load. But on the flip side of that, if you are turning down loads you are losing money, and you will sit, and eventually they will terminate you. Sitting? Its the slow time of the year, so yes there is some waiting, but they do pay you for layover pay if you wait to get dispatched. I have not had to sit much, and when I do I get paid for it. Preplans? Yes I am usually preplanned out on my loads, but again freight is slowing right now, so thats not always going to be the case. Im a newbie with this company, and Im in a t-600, I have seen drivers go through orientation and get the kws, petes, and the freightliners. I think its mostly based on what they have available at that time. If you have exp, I dont see why they would put you with a trainer, unless you havent been driving in the past two years i think is how far back they go on that. Personally I like this company, get paid good, get me home when I want to get home, and they dont complain about the amount of time I take off.

    longbedGTs Thanks this.

Hey Alabama Redneck so they do assign you trucks and they dont slip seat you and also can you take the truck home with you. Or do you have to leave it at the yard or drop lot. Also what are the speed of their trucks. Thanks and be safe.:biggrin_25525:

I take mine home with me. Their policy is if you live with in I think a 50 or 75 mile radius of the terminals then you leave the truck there on home time. Otherwise you take it home with you. They also have polices about the securement of their trailers while you are at home. The trucks are set right at 65, some a little more, some a little less.

Thanks Alabama! Sounds really good. As for the hometime policy, what do they require as far as securement of the trailer? I will have to drop the trailer and bobtail home(about 10 miles) and I use a kingpin lock and put a padlock on the right door. Plus, I drive by the trialer on my way into town.
BTW, I live in south GA so I am too far away from the nearest terminal(Forest park?) to leave the truck there.
Im looking at joining up with Marten mid 2009, but want to get the scoop asap. Them having EZ pass and APUs is an important factor.
    Thanks for your time.

Ok, well leaving the trailer somewhere and just putting a kingpin lock and padlock on it wont fly at marten. They want it secured, at either your home, or a secured facility with fence and locked gate. If you dont have someplace they will usually either find somewhere near where you live to drop it, or have you drop a trailer at a shipper or reciever that allows us to drop there. They really dont play when it comes to securing their equipment. And with the hometime, I dont know if you already know or not, but its one day off for every 5 you spend out, unless you are regional or dedicated, and I dont know what their hometime is like.
