What's the deal with drivers putting tape over parts of their license plates? Is it purely to dodge tolls, or maybe red light cameras?
Have any of you noticed this? I also saw a new york license plate with parts of the numbers painted over an orange paint today heading for the GWB.

Tolls. Have to check Amazon trailers for this. They will rub grease on the numbers.

The tolls in blue states are outrageous
lotsa people dodging them now that they are so expensive . -

I don't know why Amazon carriers do it. Amazon pays for all tolls. I've gotten payed for tolls going over bridges that I didn't have to use the bridge to get to the next stop.

Dunno how that works now with the ELD -
That plate would get you a ticket it’s way to easy to spot
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Wiping a glob of grease on it would look a bit less obvious than electrical tape over the numbers.
License plates on trash trucks tend to be so beat up as to be unreadable.W923, Flat Earth Trucker and Magoo1968 Thank this. -

I see a lot of temporary tags (paper) on trailers in the Chicago area that are expired or so weather beaten I'm convinced they aren't legally registered.
An illegal or swapped plate is easy to get away with. Same w a trailer.
Beats the homemade cardboard ones I've seen.
I probably wouldn't be amazed at the number running up and down the road.TheLoadOut Thanks this. -
I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but going to guess that letter at the end is a 'T'
