8 MPG is what I use for calculation purposes. I got down to about 3-4 goig across ne. with a 10 tall 8 wide load. Only did that once.
Last week was over 10 average could have been beter but I never turn my truck off. I like heat and a/c anmd avoid the my truck won't start problem.
Somebody is hauling it ??

you are probably right, its best to give your self plenty of wiggle room.
I average my numbers @ 10 mpg, sometimes I get down to 7-9 but most of the time its more like 11-12, most times I'm pulling my 28' deckover, if I keep my speed down I can get up 15mpg empty.
