I recently came across your post regarding a freight fraud incident and wanted to reach out because a very similar situation just happened to me. A broker contacted me requesting an update on a load I had no knowledge of. After investigating, I discovered that my email had been compromised, and someone fraudulently booked a load using my company’s identity. Unfortunately, the load is now missing, and the broker has filed a claim through my insurance. I’m trying to understand how best to defend myself in this situation. In your case, who ultimately bore the loss? Were you able to clear your company of responsibility, and what steps did you take to do so? Any guidance or insight would be greatly appreciated.
The member you’re quoting hasn’t been around in almost 6 years. Probably best to start your own thread for some assistance. In the meantime I will tag a member that may be able to give you solid advice @wichris
No worries, be patient and others will get you straightened out. I don’t have any experience with what you are dealing with so I can’t help.
It’s kind of late right now so responses may be slow until tomorrow. Just be patient, the Cavalry is coming
Report to load boards about identity stolen/compromised. Your insurance will deny the claim, broker didn't do his due diligence in using the carrier. Does this broker owe you money? If so you will have to fight with his bond to get it. He will hold anything owed. You will have a hassle for awhile booking loads as they check you out.
