I plan to bring it to the closest terminal and give someone keys.Just make sure it is someone from WERNER , not the homeless guy that hangs around outside the main gate.
Someone w/ experience in resigning from a trucking co. pls help!

Without notice? I'm told that is abandonment.
thx -
Do you even really work for WERNER your posts are going in circles , you ask for advice , then respond with replies to your own questions !
-
Sorry. Don't mean it to be that way. I'm just trying to clarify, because people are giving conflicting answers.
-
Ok just be man about it , remember they were good enough to take a chance on you.
Call them ask when / where you can drop the truck off , take pictures of it so no damage claims are against you, turn in all the paperwork you might have , get management to sign off and be on your way.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Line up a job first! The guys telling you to not put up with crap and quit immediately are guys with experience that can get any job they want right now. You are a first year driver quitting after a couple months on the road. You'll likely get another job, but what are you going to do, trade up to Swift..? Just clear your head and make the smart decisions.FLATBED and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Tell them your quitting & your driving the truck to the terminal. Refuse to take a load.

And like others have said, take pictures of EVERYTHING the exact way you leave it at the terminal, where you left it at with any buildings or signs around showing exactly the spot you left it in, inside, outside, motor, windows/windshield, also take pictures of the MILEAGE and FUEL GAUGE so they cant try to come back on you for fuel or mileage by claiming they had to go get it and you left it without fuel, also take notes and write down names/dates of people you turned the keys/fuel cards into

I drove to the closest terminal, which was in route, while under load and put the truck in the shop. Truck was red tagged for a cracked windshield, and I knew it would be red tagged for it (exactly why I took it to the shop). Let dispatch know that my truck was put OOS and they pulled the load from me and gave it to a guy that needed it to get home. I was the only one that knew I was quitting until my truck was tagged and the load was covered... Then, everyone knew!
No one had a problem with it. I went home, and they put someone else in the truck, I'm sure.
They told me to keep the Comdata card, and payroll would load whatever they owed me onto it. Come payday, I got my money... And for poops and giggles, I checked the balance on the card the next payday as well... They loaded my bonus on there too! All in all, it went pretty smooth even tho it was a surprise for them. I didn't receive any threats, or bad attitudes. No harsh feelings, and didn't have to fight anyone for $ that was owed.
If they were to make a better offer than what I'm currently getting, i might consider it!WoofWagon Thanks this.
