Ok then go ahead and break into the industry , I did many years ago and I stay in it to this day. I’m an old man so im jaded. It’s true you can make money in anything even in trucking. I’ve just heard way to many ugly stories that start out with great intentions and passion but then .... ouch .... pain ....

How much $ are you planning to invest ? How much do you plan to pay for a truck ?

Well this is the problem, the failure rate for experience people is still over 85% and for the people who think they can make money without experience seems to be 95% failure.

So I would stick to real estate, and competition is good for you.

I simply reviewed a P&L and coming here is part of the research that I’m doing (that’s how I found this forum).

I’ll let you know when I finalize my research.

Thanks, congrats on making it work!
That’s what I’m here to read, the success and failure stories and try to learn as much as possible from them and then decide if this is something that I should invest in or not.

Around 100-150k all together 60-80k for a truck.

Wow that’s high! Any particular reason? Unreliable drivers? Bad management or what exactly?

The only one that'll profit from this is your friend.

If you think real estate is competitive, wait until you're fighting with clowns in bagged out Freightliners held together with duct tape for $1/mile loads.

Ok so you have seen a P&L statement so that is better than most in the industry. What % return on invested capital do you think you can make ? 10% 15% .... 5% ?

Where is the freight coming from ?
What freight segment ? Dry van , refrigerated , flat bed or ?

Have you thought about going the opposite direction ? Loan your friend the capital and let him do ALL the work. Loan him the $150k at 12% per annum and you would be the lien holder on the equipment.

Your friend will receive 17% and have no risk.
    See, he knows the risk.
Approach it the way Oakland suggests.

This is a very tuff industry with low profit margins.

Your success depends too much on others, Sounds like your friend needs a Banker as a friend. You’re assuming all the risk, and are the one who will pay the price.
