I love when people struggle and struggle and struggle, hit someone and never once get out and look, then look all shocked after the person who got hit was mad as hell.
Or when you’re helping someone and you say hey, you should do this, they continue doing it their way for 10 minutes. Just walk off.
Sometimes you have to just do it.

This used to be good advice before elds.
Now it will invalidate your dot break, plus parking is getting to the point of insanity, so once you have your spot it may not ve a good idea to pull around to try again. -
I always say thank you for help even when I don't need it. @ncmickey has it right though. Keep me from hitting something don't do a wild dance and mimic twirling the wheel. That is just distracting.

35 yrs driving and there were still days my mind couldn't "see" the backing geometry and I looked like a rookie. lol

I like to hide somewhere and yell "WHOA!" They slam on their brakes, stop, look around, get out wondering if they hit something. I get a good laugh out of it, they get some exercise. Win-Win.

I suppose it depends on your truck and your company’s policy. On my truck, I put it in 1st gear, let off the clutch, and it will not change me to driving at all. It’s never happened. Just do not accelerate. Newbies don’t need to be going too fast anyway. I know. It’s cheating, but who cares.
If you want to be legal, put it on “yard move” if your company has that option available on your ELD device. Practice whenever you can take more than a 10-hr break and when available parking isn’t an issue. You can also practice on your 34-hr break. There is even the possibility of using PC, but sure, it shouldn’t be used that way. -
If you can get a whole yard to slam on the brakes. Bonus points for more than 5 trucks stopping at once. I used my dockside sea voice to roar whoa ######. That usually gets most of the yard to stop. I have not done that in years.shogun Thanks this.
